I Think My Calico Cat Is Very Loveing To.

I got a calico a month ago...she is incredibly loving and friendly towards humans, but she can't stand our other cat! Every time he gets near her, she hisses and growls and swats at him!

Msnite...Calico is the name of the breed. They're also known as tortoiseshell. Calicos are almost always female, also. It's very rare for them to be male. Just a fun fact for everyone.

I have two calico cats and a black and white cat. The calicos are lovable but so is the other one. I think that a cat that is brought up in a loving home and is loved herself then she will be lovable.

I have a shy, sweet little calico, and she certainly is very loving.

She is completely non-agressive, and does not have a single mean bone in her body!

She is always the first to go up and welcome new cats to our home. She walks over quietly, gives them a sniff on the nose, and then licks them on the head!

This is while all the other cats are still growling and hissing, and swatting at any newcomer.

Having said all that, she is not a lap cat. She is ALWAYS near me, but never lays on me, or in my lap. She loves to be petted and stroked, but always wants her own space. She does not like to be carried. The other cats will let me, she does not.

(As a previous poster alluded to) I call Rosie (the calico) "my private kitty" because most people who come to my home have never seen her. She always runs and hides, and will not come out until the visitors are gone. She does scare easily, and does pick and choose her friends.

She is not mischievious, however (except she likes to tap! tap! tap! knock things off of counters).

The mischievious one is my very naughty little spotted cat, Mikey.

My naughty little spotted cat, with his funny, hoarse little voice, clever little monkey paws, and gentle ways is the lap cat. He is always crawling into my lap, and sleeps on me every night.

He is the one who opens cupboards and cabinets and takes things out. He chases the other cats around (but not to be mean, just to play). He is ALWAYS busy, and you can just SEE his mind WORKING, looking for something to DO! :-))

I have five cats, and they are all loving and affectionate, but Rosie (the calico) and Mikey (the naughty spotted kitty) would win the competition at my house! :-))

sassy sour's calico's and tortise shells are 2 different breeds.
calicos have patches of colors, usually brown ,black and orange with alot of white.Tortiseshells however are brown, orange and black all mottled together like the tortises shell hence the name.also tortise shells are completely sterile and calicos arn't,and tortishells are always female and calico's can rarely be male.

as far as calico's go they are very loving but i have a grey and white shorthair that will put calico's to shame. we had a tortise shell she was annoyingly loving to me and the wife but attacked my 3 year old so much we had to put her to sleep. yes before i get hate mail i did try to find her a home. i tried very hard i did like the cat i didn't want her to be euthinized .all of our freinds couldnt take her the adoption agenceys was full and or her age and attack record messed that up.

Doesn't matter for us we got allot of cats and their all sweet. Although my calico, Patches, she's very nice but since we live on a farm she isn't declawed so she practically digs her claws into a person.

Loving like lets you carry them all over with you, or comes up and rubs heads with you loving? If you like to carry a cat, try one called a rag doll, I think that is their name. They go limp in your arms. just like a baby doll, or rag doll. Calico's pick and choose their friends. And from what I have seen, they are mischievous and scare easily. I've never owned one though.

My cat was a ginger moggy who we found as a stray one summer and you couldn't have seen a cat more loving than she was. All cats can be loving if they have warm, loving owners.
