I am currently looking for a gym with good quality equipment, staff that is helpfull and a good class variety. The biggest vote of confidence is in LA fitness so far.

If you agree, which branch should I go to (central)? If you disagree, please let me know why.

It really depends on where you're based in London. I used to hold memberships at LA Fitness, Fitness First and local Wandsworth gyms (at the time Cannons). But for me, the best by far are the Virgin Active gyms. If you prefer to use the resistance machines, the latest technology in fitness, a wide variety of fitness classes, plus a pool, spa, sauna and steam room, I recommend it.

I've cancelled my membership twice due to time restraints at work and re-joined because it's the best gym I've been with. It's not cheap @ 64 pounds, but it's worth it in my opinion.

Good luck!

depends what borough you're in, (not talking about the private ones)

In Tower Hamlets The Tiller Centre is great for staff but on the tiny side (it has quite a few machines though) on the other hand you have the NEW Mile End Leisure Centre, which is bigger, but the staff are cr ap

Why don't you contact your local council for a list of all there leisure centres/gyms that way you'll probably only have to pay for one membership for all the gyms .
Private gyms you pay high prices for just the entry into one

admitedly I don't know much, but I hope this helps you (or others that read it)

i would recommend looking further out - maybe closer to where you live as opposed to work. C. London gyms are both very expensive and busy.

I am a member of a municple gym which is less than £50 a month and has more facilties than most private gyms if not stuff like sauna, whirlpool rtc...
