Depending on the individuals health and age, walking at normal speed for an hour burns roughly between 180 and 240 calories. In order to lose a pound of fat you need to burn 3500 calories. As long as you maintain a healthy diet and have a generally active lifestyle you will lose weight. Try to exercise before eating though, as exercise after eating will only use up the energy from the food in your stomach and not those deposited around your body. Walking is very beneficial for cardiovascular health and circulation and muscle toning. Doctors recommend that we walk for 2 hours a day (around 10000 steps), although anything is better than nothing.

You dont have to do punishing exercise or workout in a gym, walking every day will help you get fit and lose weight.

Of course it's good for you, it will do your body the world of good...but only if your diet goes along with it. There's no good walking for one hour and 10mins each day, and then going home and eating chocolate for the rest of it!

You can tone up, improve your heart rate levels, stamina and overall fitness...but you must be eating healthily too, otherwise the bad food will cancel out the good exercise.

Buy a pedometer and walk 10,000 paces a day and you will lose weight. My daughter does walk for the length of time you are talking about (there and back to work) and she did lose weight, but if you don't change your diet you have to keep up that level for ever.

yes you will lose weight and you will also feel better for your walk

ie. sleep better, eat better and generally, think better

Don't be tempted to do more than
1 hour and 10 minutes walking per day,
that is quite enough .

The weight loss will be slow but continuous

good luck

Hey walking is fantastic for you... I was doing 3 miles a day.. I had to give it up though, because at the end of the week I was 15 miles away from home.

I would reduce time and instead drinking 2 cups of coffee and then walk for 30-45 min. at a slow pace before eating breakfast.

This depends very much on how quickly you walk and your normal diet, I would say. 30mins vigorous walking is going to burn off calories much quicker than a slow amble for 1hr and 10mins.
