I have a newer Brother sewing machine and have been trying for over a month to get the bobbin to go in right. This is hard to explain without pictures but i'll try.....The bobbin itself has a circular front & a curved half circle back which seems like it's suppose to just fit right into the machine, but i can not get it to stay in the position it needs to be in, in order to replace the other part which fits over the entire area that holds the bobbin in place. I can get the bobbin in but once i let go of it to replace the other part, the bobbin falls out of place; it has to be in ~just right~ or the part that fits over wont go on right. I am new to sewing but I HAVE used a sewing machine before & did not have this problem with that machine; Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I even had other people try & they had the same problem, but I know the bobbin will go in somehow because it was working fine until it ran out of thread. (I dont have the owners manual)

All bobbins that I have ever used are round. How do you refill the bobbin from your thread, if you can't mount it to the bobbin winder by the big turn wheel?

It seems to me that you are talking about the bobbin SEAT. This is a metal piece that holds the bobbin, and fits in the threading mechanism below the needle. You need to fit your bobbin SEAT into position (yes, how it LOOKS like it should fit) and then (using the big turning wheel), turn the mechanism back and forth, until you hear a snap. This should be the bobbin seat locking into position. Then flip down the lever to hold it in place (it should have one). Try turning the wheel completely around once or twice to make sure your mechanism is functioning properly. If it gets stuck, your seat isn't sitting right. Try jiggling it around.

Load up your bobbin with the thread winding clockwise as you look at it, the end of the thread towards you, holding it in your left hand. Then holding the bobbin in place with one finger, pull the thread until it snaps through the tension wire. Lay the thread over into the groove cut into the housing, and close the housing panel.

Now, grasping the upper machine thread lightly, turn the wheel around once (towards you) allowing the bobbin thread to be picked up by the thread, and pull it out in the opening provided. You are now ready to sew.

Get to a sewing place pronto and bring everything. I would suggest a Singer Sewing, A fabric store. Any one there, no matter where u purchase your machine could help u. Most fabric places have people who are sewers and they can help u. If no Sewing place around go to Wal-Mart. They do have an area and should have someone who does sew to help u. Still no luck get to an embroidery shop. They have people who could at least show u what u r doing wrong. Good luck.

Most bobbins have a little lever on them that will wiggle back and forth ....I don't know if the new brother has this or not, but in my old one you have to hold the lever out before you place the bobbin in the case and then after the bobbin is seated let the lever go and it locks in place.

Hope that helps.

I'd go to Wal Mart that sells them and look at the manual or the machine, pretend to be interested. I know you can order another book online, just have the model # of the machine. good luck.
