dies becuase he has a disease and the parents refuse medical help and only accept prayer as a form of help should they be held responsible for that childs death? Should they go to prison for murder? Be charged with neglect and child abuse?

Yes, they should be in a big ol' pile of trouble. When you have a child, it becomes your duty as a parent to do everything in your power to keep the child safe and healthy. What kind of parent wouldn't do that? It reminds me of a joke I heard once. There was a man trapped on top of his roof during a flood. People came by in boats and helicopters etc. offering help. His only answer was"God will get me off this roof." The man dies and when he gets to the pearly gates, he asks, "Why didn't God help me?" To this he gets the response, "Who do you think sent the boat and the helicopter?"

Well it seem that some of us answering don't have children and therefore lack the experience or qualifications to say anything about this subject. What of what the child wants? Should we be so bold to be judge and executioner? Preservation of life it self should matter So I would have to say if a parent refuses any and all medical treatment to a life threatening disease then they are liable for the child death as a result thereof. Religion is not an excuse to deny any child the opportunity to become something great or terrible in any matter.

I have heard so many christians say God doesn't always answer their prayers, so why would a parent even take that risk!?

To not accept medical help for a sick child is criminal.

I am an atheist but in the US there is freedom of religion and if your religion states that you should not use modern doctors and you should pray to heal the sick then more power to you. You will be the one killing your child because of your beliefs. Im not saying it is right, but if you want religious freedom then you have to give it to all, not just the ones that "do the right thing"

YES. MOST VEHEMENTLY.

RELIGEON IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR MURDER/NEGLECT. TIS a land of religeous freedom. let the kid chose to belive in his own life and take medicine. not follow the ditacts of someone who is patently insane.

By law, I believe it would be seen as withholding the necessities of life. God works with doctors too! Why eliminate any potential for life?

Yes they should be charged.

They are demanding that God heal as they want him to heal, totally ignoring the fact that God can and does heal through medicine and physicians. They think that God should bow to their whims at the expense of their children's lives.

no....it's for better or worse what comes with being in an apparently 'free' society. I don't think it's right to have what others believe is right for your child shoved down your throat
