Sure it's possible, but first you have to have an incestuous relationship with your father, brother, or uncles. Then you'll have to go thru a number of beatings, whippings, and public humiliation. You will be expected to speak only when spoken to, and take care of the house, the bastard kids, and tend the crops. Your normal working day will be 12 to 14 hours a day. I'm sure you'll enjoy your new life.

Well first you have to learn the language. They speak a dialect of Dutch which I know very little about. Then I think (I'm not sure on this!) you have to go and find a Amish bishop. But it may be hard as the Amish tend to see women as the underdog so unless you find a family to live with (most likely in Pennsylvania) your chances of securing a home their are unlikely.
I'm not going to say what you would have to give up as it appears most people have beet me too that!

I am not certain about the possibility of joining but the possibility of living like one can mean sacrifice if you have been used to live in the comfort of the home in the urban community. No TV, No newspaper, no gas driven car, no cell phones, no i-pod, no movie. An ideal rural life of simplicity where love is abundant and moral value is rooted in everyone and no trace of violent behaviour. No need to join if you can start it by yourself with others who are willing to emulate.

You'd have to ask the local Amish Bishop.

give me your car, your widescreen TV, your DVD player, your computer.
I'll give you a headscarf and a floppy hat.
Move to Pennsylvania. Buy a horse.
Enjoy your new life.
