My aunt gave birth to her son 5 years ago. That boy was so weak and not like other children. He got sick easily and she took him to every doctor in thr country. Finally he had some test and they told her he has an Extra chromosome .Which is effecting his normal growth and speech. He's 5 and talks like a 2-year-old child and he's body is so small I wanna know what do they call his condition.
P.S He look like a normal kid but he has delays in speech and growth. I hope I get an accurate answer because I really wanna help this kid.
Thanks .

The only condition that I am familiar with is Down's Syndrome.

Does the kid have almond-shaped eyes? That is usually a pretty good sign that it is Down's.

I admire your willingness to help out!
God bless!

U've not described more clearly but i can explain u something , hope u will understand but first of all u should check up tht child by a good doctor.

Nondisjunction is the failure of chromosome pairs to separate properly during meiosis or mitosis. The result of this error is a cell with an imbalance of chromosomes.
When a chromosome is gained, it is called a Trisomy, in the case of a human gamete it will have a set of 24 chromosomes instead of the usual 23.

You told here that its due to extra chromosome then may be it has caused by Trisomy 21>> Down syndrome disease.

But i m not sure about that because you have described less information about that child ... well
MAY GOD BLESS THIS CHILD
MAY GOD GIVE HIM COURAGE
He will be fine ,,, i m not sure but whatever u've written it seems that child has got the condition of Down Syndrome.

Down syndrome or trisomy 21 is a genetic condition resulting from the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome. Down syndrome is characterized by a combination of major and minor abnormalities of body structure and function. Among features present in nearly all cases are impairment of learning and physical growth, and a recognizable facial appearance usually identified at birth.

Hope u've got answer of your question.
You should ask more about this to a good and specialized doctor because its a serious problem.
MAY GOD BLESS U AND THT CHILD.
tc
Bye. :)

It really depends what chromosome pair number has the extra chromosome. When you have an extra chromosome, it's called a trisomy. For example, there are 23 pairs of chromosomes in a human being (numbered 1-23).

Down's syndrome is caused by having one extra chromosome of the 21st pair (also called Trisomy 21).

And another syndrome called Klinefelter's is caused by having an extra X chromosome.

Your cousin might have what's called Trisomy 18, or Edward's Syndrome.

You might want to try searching for "trisomy syndromes" in any search engine.
