I always tip 2 dollars, they may not have waited on you, but they did get your order and condiments. People Don't realize the people that serve you work for tips.

most takeout you don't have to tip very much for, unless you are getting takeout from an actual restaurant like chili's, or outback, or any of those restaurants that have to-go service. Those people are working on tips just like the servers in the restaurant.

The rule of thumb is - normally not. You usually tip if someone brings you food (as in a restaurant, or delivery). However.....it's nice to give a tip when the food was prepared by specifically a person you request because you know they did it right the last time for you and, because they are an excellent cook.
Here is another thing that people often over look....I always tip my guy/girl...that helps me load up my groceries. Most of the time cant take big tips...but, I usually give them something and say here...this is for your pop on break or something.

Generally, no tips are involved. However, I did have a guy call in for an emergency order one night because someone in the family just passed away, the family was all there, and could I make meals for 8 or so? I got a $20 tip for it just because nobody felt like cooking at their house and he said I was a life-saver.

You tip when you receive service. I will tip if they give me something to drink while I wait, but other than maybe tossing in some change, I don't tip for pickup/takeout.

You don't have to tip for takeout. Nobody involved in getting you your food is working for tips, unlike waiters and the delivery guy.

I don't tip for takeout. Other than the chef, the meal did not require anything much of other staff.

I dont tip for takeout..only if it is delivered. hese days, every sinlge person that rings up a sale wants a tip. this is ridiculous. Ringing up a sale is not a service. bringing me ny food, or driving me to the airport is.

Tipping at a drive-thru is like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton bending over to grab their fries.
