some folks say the promise ring is a promise to get get engaged and the engagement ring is a promise to get married. personally guys who do that are cop outs. i think a man should just buy his woman an engagement ring as a promise to spend the rest of his life with her a oppose to a promise ring that ensures she will forever be waiting on that engagement ring even if the intention to marry was never there. my opinions.

The promise ring is like a promise of a future engagement. It means the guy is thinking of you as exclusive and is even thinking of the next step which is engagement.
An engagement ring is a promise to marry you ring. Usually comes with a proposal of marriage.

Yes. A promise ring is just basically saying that you're one step closer to getting engaged. Engaged means that you are serious about the person and that you will be getting married to him or her. A promise ring kindof means that you two are together and that you made a promise of that.

A promise ring means you two promise to be with each other and are willing to go further in your relationship. A engagement ring means you are ready to make a comitment to each other to be together forever and and celebrate your love together by marriage and hopefully be together for the rest of your life. It depends who called it a promise ring.
See if the guy was confident you would marry him he would have probably called it an engagement ring.
If he isn't 100% sure or doesn't want to get rejected, he calls it a promise ring.
He should have just got it for you and said it was a gift.
Promise ring is a gay thing to do.

yes, a promise ring is kinda like going steady...an engagement is a promise to marry...a promise ring doesn't promise that, it just promises to be with you and only you...engagement is promising to make a lifetime commitment in front of your family and god

I think there is, because a promise ring doesn't have to be so expensive, it just means that you're promising yourself that ur going to be with the guy and not hurt him.
