Well, Sara, on Good Friday and during Lent, I feel bad. I make myself think about the role I had on purpose.

It's good once in awhile for me to think about what my selfishness, laziness, impulsiveness, pride, etc. did to Christ. The image of my sin's impact on Jesus is concrete, I can picture the bleeding side and the crown of thorns in my mind, whereas the impact of what my sin does to the people and the world around me tends to be invisible, becoming indistinguishable from the impact of the sins of other people. Sometimes I don't even know I hurt people until after I force myself to sit around and think about it for awhile.

Meditation on what Jesus went through because of my sin has two parts, sorrow and joy. There is an old hymn (O Sacred Head Now Wounded) that describes this sorrow and this joy:

My burden in Thy Passion, Lord, Thou hast borne for me,
For it was my transgression which brought this woe on Thee.
I cast me down before Thee, wrath were my rightful lot;
Have mercy, I implore Thee; Redeemer, spurn me not!

What language shall I borrow to thank Thee, dearest friend,
For this Thy dying sorrow, Thy pity without end?
O make me Thine forever, and should I fainting be,
Lord, let me never, never outlive my love to Thee.

Had I been living at the time of Jesus' crucifixion, I would have felt bad. I appreciate that Jesus was willing to be crucified for the sins of mankind. It was his choice. His sacrifice. He forgave those who crucified Him.

Luk 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

I think yoy should ask yourself that question before you ask anyone else. The answer to that is I do not feel bad. God made the decision to place Himself in human form on earth to keep all of us believers out of hell. It was the final attempt to show the world that we had become a land of fornicators, thieves, liars, covetors.......and that He loved us so much and knew it was impossible for us to be perfect and He wanted to give us a way into His house.

No sinners don't feel bad about it at all, it is us Christians that feel bad about it. We know that he died for all of us and not a single one of us was worthy, of what he went through for us....

I did not kill Jesus - I think not having been born yet is an AMAZING alibi.

Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed now are you?

I believe that the people who caused the death of the philosophical yet mortal carpenter 2000 years ago are all dead and buried.

Do you feel ashamed for the Trail of Tears?

Sometimes. Then I remember that God, in His infinite love, gave me the grace to come to Him. He bridged the gap that mortal man was not able to, and that gives me hope and lifts my spirits.

good question, but we can't change the way they are, just live your life to the fullest. don't worry about what they do or say, even if it makes you mad. do the you, meaning worry about yourself ... they have to live with their mistakes!!
