If the registry is giving you a message that you cannot edit or delete the key, try the following:
1.) Open RegEdit
2.) Locate the key you want to adjust
3.) Right-Click on its folder, choose "Properties" from the menu
4.) Choose the "Security" tab at the top
5.) At the bottom of the window, there will be a chart that displays "permissions"
6.) In this chart, be sure to place a check mark next to "Allow", in the "Full Control" row.
7.) Click apply
8.) Click Ok
9.) Edit the key, it should accept the new value.
Hope this helps!

Answering questions is a haphazard challenge. no matter if you get a respectable answer relies upon on even as and the position you submit it, as well because the way you word the question. i do not answer questions each day, yet I truly have fairly some factors. a lot of human beings have fewer factors so that they probable answer a lot less regularly than I do. therefore, it might want to truly ensue that someone will bypass over your question the first time you submit it. i won't be able to respond to why you receive "cowardly snivelling feedback" in the geneology section because i'm no longer attentive to questions. possibly your questions appeared stupid to someone who knows plenty about geneology, or possibly you probably did truly write a stupid question. i'm no longer attentive to any regulations that say you could not submit a similar question more suitable than once or in additional suitable than one position. even with the indisputable fact that, you would possibly want to favor to be certain if all and sundry else has ever requested an identical question and keep your self fairly some time.

You have your home page set on yahoo.com? If that is the case go to tools, internet options, and change the address to the website that you want to be your home page. Does that answer your question?

If you are using IE for your browser, any of those methods should have worked. I can't think of a reason other than a virus or a permissions issue that would stop you from changing it.
If you are using another browser, such as firefox, you'll have to go to the settings in that browser to change the start page.

your browser may have been hijacked by adware/spyware. First do you have a firewall? If not get one first - zonealarm and sunbelt kerio personal firewall are good choices. next update your antivirus and run a scan. download at least three adware programs to test thoroughly. good ones are spybot search and destory, adaware and webroot. spybot is free, adaware has a free version and webroot has a trial. run all three one after the other. do this at least twice. download cccleaner and clean your system and registry of junk values. also download easycleaner to catch whatever ccleaner miises. if none of this works download hijackthis, create a log of the system and post it to a hijackthis forum. see below for links to all

Check to make sure you don't have anti-hijacking tools that are setting it back (to protect you from home page hijacks). You may need to temporarily disable them or have them change your home page or "approve" the home page change within the software product.

http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip
scan the computer with the program, and remove the home page entry.
