He'll probably be OK but try to keep the chalk away and give him puppy treats.

OK, silly question here .... but does your dog hang out in schoolrooms with chalkboards? Where is your dog that he has access to chalk, anyway? Just curious ... it is just not the sort of thing that one usually finds lying around all over the place. Sorry to be so chalk-full of questions ... hee hee hee

My thought is this: If dogs can eat cat poop without getting sick, they can probably stomach the small, occasional piece of chalk. But you really might try giving him doggy treats... or cat poop. (Your choice, really.)

Chalk this one up to experience......

Ask yourself the question again will anything happen to you if you eat chalk? I suggest don't give your dog things to eat if it is not edible and go to the vet to check it's stomach.
