yes, forgiveness is an act of the will. it has nothing to do with the feelings you have for someone who wronged you. forgiving does not mean you have to be that person's friend or like them or hang out with them. it is just a decision. and you move on. we do ourselves a favor when we forgive. persons who refuse to forgive get ugly wrinkles and develop a bad attitude toward life.

Oh yeah, there are too many people out there that will never ask forgiveness, and even more that didn't even know they hurt someone, it's not always easy, but I know I feel a lot more sane when I let the grudges go.

Yes. Sometimes I think I can forgive only because to be forgiven, I must forgive... which makes it a rather selfish act; but there it is. I ask for God's help on tougher ones and He is there, usually providing a way to make it easier for me.

If you forgive someone then it has to be final and NEVER even be a thought that crosses your mind again. Once forgiven, that is truly the end of it or how can you have forgiven?

Yes you can; I am not saying it is going to be easy but, you need to forgive them so you can move on with your life. Its not like your going to go up to that person and say I forgive you even thought you won't admit it. You will be more at peace if you do.

Only if in your heart you are willing to do so. It takes a big person to do that. You don't even have to tell anyone - just yourself. Find it in your heart to forgive those who have (as you may see it) wronged you. You will find that it will lift a burden from you just to say it to yourself. But only do it if you truly forgive them.

I choose not to be a very forgiving person. I have found out the hard way that forgiving people is usually interpretted by them as permission to screw you over again in the future.

Not under my own will, but only with God's help. My history, like most peoples is littered with people who let me down or hurt me, I had to learn to keep praying and practising forgiveness until the Holy spirit put it in my heart.

Yes. My mother and my children I forgave. Forgiveness is truest when it's done without the asking.
