I am tall and slim and I play hard rock drums. So I get a great workout. I've got a very toned physique, but I think I probably burn more calories than I take in. Is there a supplement (or a diet regimine) I can take to keep high energy levels for an hour or two? And at the same time, something that will fill me out just a little bit so I'm not so freakin skinny (other than lifting weights since I've already got decent muscle tone)?

Also...when is a good time to drink the protein shake? Is it ok to drink it before bed? And where do I get these supplements that you are recommending?

You're also putting a lot of wear and tear on your bones and muscles. Add Glucosamine/Chondritin to your diet. It helps regenerate the cartilage. You can also try Ginsana for energy. I'd avoid the caffeine route completely because of the ups and downs caffeine causes. This means all those "energy" drinks and Starbucks 'cause they're big on caffeine.

Eat a lot of lean protein, or add protein powder to egg-based milkshakes. Avoid the junk food and eat organic carbs/vegetables. Lots of whole grains. Get a lot of sleep every night. It needs the down time to rejuvenate and build muscle.

It's simple math: you have to take in more calories than you burn. If you want to gain muscle, you need to consume 2 grams of protein for every pound you weigh every day (no more than 40 grams at a time).
Oh, and just drink a Red Bull before playing if you want energy.
