Well, to make a long story short, religion has wrecked my life and my mind. Child abuse is not recognized by officials of the church and they have a data base of names of peodofiles that haven't received punishment. The religion in which I speak is Jehovah's Witnesses. Yes it is a cult, but the Catholic church did the same thing. Islam fundamentalist kill and have Holy war in Israel with the Jews. Christianty has seen it's wars and continues to inhibit and control our government and force their backward doctrines on us. I am fed up and angered and want to put an end to religion and it's harmful ways. Their God is vengeful and one that destorys all that question him. It destroys enlightenment and the growth of a persons in the worse ways. Believers are mindless dogma following monsters that don't keep their beliefs to themselves but try and force it on all of us. It is time we let knowledge, reason, and empathy take control of the beliefs we have, and the behavior we exibit.

Wow! sounds like you just hate everybody. who did what to you?
I have to agree with most of what you said, religion is a tool of the government to get people to do what they want them to.
From Hitler convincing people that all Jews were wicked and the Muslims are trying to do the same thing. The Japanese emperor had emperor worship and they were convinced that the emperor was granting them eternal life for bombing Hawaii.
Japan was going to take over the world and the Japanese who knew nothing about it here in America was put in interment camps. As spy's and infidels. They were so convinced that God was with them that they went on suicide missions called Kamikaze pilots. Crashing into ships and buildings so this really isn't anything new. Just a different looking people and a different form of worship. As long as there is charismatic people who can make you believe that god is with them and people ready to die for them their will be war.

Lady, this is my Form 1 Religous class contribution from Fiji. We are SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISTS. You see, it seems that the people you are laying the blame on are Religious leaders. You see, Not all leaders are the same. For a start, when a person is in Christ, he is a new creature...doing what God wants..that is ,EVERYTHING is right and acceptable both to man and God. Only when satan l;eads that person, he does the opposite. That is why in the parable of the wheat and tares, Jesus was emphasising the fact that in the world and also in His church, there would both evil and good be found. That is why in every churches, you will find good and bad people, including leaders. Until the HARVEST time when Jesus will soon return to take His people home. And for those who do not believe in His saving grace, they shall perish. You see sister, God never forces a person to believe in Him . He stands at the door and knocks.. it is a personal choice either to accept him or not. Please do not be angry with God . He still loves you... until the time you decide to leave him for ever. This is the blashemy against the Holy Spirit and that is when God's vengeance will be dished out. This is because it is the only sin that God cannot forgive. This is when a person's name is deleted from the BOOK OF LIFE. This is when GOd revenges evil because a person has finally decided to be permanently in satan's side. For God will destroy Both this and satan. You see, it does not mean that you hate God and you shall destroyed. Because who knows sometime later you will change your mind and come back to God.He is still waiting for His invitation is still extended until the enfocement of the 666. ( if you want to know more about the 666, we can help you.. srjione@yahoo.com. May God Bless you !!

I'm sorry to hear you had such a horrible experience. However, I think you are being intellectually dishonest by painting so many people with such a broad brush. While it is true that there have been many horrible things committed in the name of religion, there have also been a lot of good things as well. Most of the hospitals where started by religious people, for example. Religious groups support the homeless, sick, dying, and imprisoned. And I certainly would not think of myself of anyone I personally know as a mindless dogma following monster, especially considering how I came to believe.

Bottom line, with or without religion, you are going to be angry because the problem is not a systemic theology of any kind. You problem is with people whose actions violate the very tenants of the faith they are supposed to abide by. You are going to find as many of those people outside of religion as you will find in it.

Since you seem to be so big on logic and reason (of which I myself am a fan) I would suggest that perhaps you not let the practices of several corrupt religions shape your view of ALL religion, and thus lead to the resultant invective which pits faith and reason at opposite poles. For that sort of mindless conclusion stands in stark opposition to the very logic and reason which you feign to enjoin.

Don't blame other religions because your faith betrayed you. If your religion ignore child abuse then maybe it's a cult.
Like in life, every religion has its positives and negatives. God is not vengeful; only life is.
And you are correct; if your religion reglects reason, knowledge and empathy, then it's baseless; but please don't blame others because of your negative experience.
I wish you all the best.

Woah hon, take some deep breaths okay. Somebody out there who you trusted (I'm guessing a religious one) must of really hurt you. I'm so sorry, but for your own emotional health, just start with addressing that before trying to take on all belief systems out there.

best wishes

Fredric Nitzsche felt the same way and one of his follower Adolf Hitler created a political group called the Nazi Party to do away with religion just as you suggest. Nothing new in your statement or in your hatred.

every religion has its bad and good. if you hate religion...why do you care about it. Its not like you are gonna change the world by posting this question in yahoo answers...most of the people who come here just want to argue about religion and persecute the people who dont think just like them. nobody in the religion & spirituality section really wants answers....they just want people to argue with.
