No. I find God anywhere but very rarely, I should try harder, I must said God has helped me out in a few occasions. Like lately I pray to get this job I liked and today I was told I got it, so I can leave the crap job I was doing, and tell the horrible manager to **** right off the *****!

Perhaps.

Genesis 1 - 3 does seem to indicate that God has a certain amount of fondness for gardens. And I'm sure the Garden of Gethsemane is particularly precious to God.

I've even found that in desolate places God can minister to my heart in such a way that I feel as though I'm in a garden.

Kiss of the sun for pardon.
Song of the birds for mirth.
You're closer to God's heart in a garden
Than any place else on earth."...(Dorothy Frances Gurney)

Many people find harmony and solace close to creation. In a garden we see the wonder, the continued miracle of life springing forth from dead seeds into something beautiful, fragrant and inspiring. It brings us close to our own origins and earthly destination: "Remember man that thou art dust and unto dust thou shalt return." But that is only one aspect. St Paul in I Corinthians chapter 15 uses the development of a seed as a metaphor to describe our resurrection. It is necessary for a seed to die and shrivel for it to be able to germinate again to produce a new plant. "So it will be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable. It is sown in dishonour, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body." (v. 42-44). A garden, therefore, gives us not only a sense of the beauty of the present, but a promise of our ultimate fulfilment. And Heaven will have a garden too! (Revelation 22:2)

Yes, I find it easier to transcend all the everyday hastle in a natural place, be it a garden or the countryside. I think its the beauty and slower pace that does it. My spirit soars.

Depends on if it's God's garden. Are you one of God's flowers?

Why should we be closer to his heart in the garden than anywhere else? I thought he was supposedly omnipresent & sees & hears everything all the time.

You can be close to God's heart anywhere, but yes, many people feel closer to Him when they are surrounded by nature's beauty and peace. More importantly, God is close to your heart whenever and wherever you are. Especially when you feel alone...He is there.
