in front of Peter John and James-all three were killed cause they wouldnt deny Jesus-Peter said i had denied Jesus dont crucify me the same way im not worthy do it to me upside down and that is the glory of the upside down cross-he was martyrd that way rather than deny the Messiah who taught love and truth for everyone even our enemies.

well why those two-Moses represents the Law-because of his sin he couldnt even enter Israel-but he got it right about the blood atonement as the only way to forgive sin-Leviticus 17vs 11 and he was here to testifiy to Jesus at his glorification-Jesus light up bright transfigured. Luke 9 vs 28 witnesses and 29 lit up bright (without wacko weed-that destroys the mind)
vs 30 "and behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elijah."

Elijah was a prophet taken directly to heaven-and he came to bear witness too.

what do u bear witness too. would u die for what what you believe.

Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus to witness His glory and His true position as the Messiah who was to come and rule the people of God and save them from their enemies and to stay as a King over God's people for ever and ever. Moses to witness for the Law, and Elijah to witness for the prophets. In Christ Jesus the Law and the Prophets are fulfilled. Those two appeared to Christ not because Christ doesn't know who He is, or because He wanted to have a little chat with them. He called upon Moses and Elijah and was in their midst glorified and shone as the brightness of the sun so that Peter, John and James witness this incident and make it known to the all Human that Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah and the Son of God. In addition They could be the two witnesses that will come at the end of time when the time of the Gentiles has been completed, and the last week or 7 years of the time of the Jews to be yet completed before the coming of Christ.

Hey........David.

I know your all excited. but hey.........

You better re-read that again my friend.

You sure Jesus "appeared" to them? or a spirit?

The two witness' will be brought forward again sir. They will preach the Gospel to the world.

Now I notice there, in the Old Testament, but at least a reference to it. And I believe probably the most obvious would be events that happened in the Old Testament that seem like the Rapture. And, we have some in the Old Testament.

Well not actually what takes place at the Rapture, for then we get brand new bodies, to be like the body of Jesus, I John 3:2-3.

However, there were two men in the Old Testament who were snatched up to meet the Lord in the heavenlies. Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. Now it was a form of the Rapture, but it wasn’t really the Rapture, because he’s on the other side in his old body. It was not changed as he went up. And then in 2 Kings 2:11, Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven, but he’s still there in his body. All the others are there as spirits, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, 2 Corinthians 5:8. And James teaches us that, chapter 2:27, as the body went out, the spirit is dead, because that sprit is with the Lord. So it’s a total heaven, full of spirits, even the angels, except these two bodies, and they come back, and they are the two witnesses of Revelation chapter 11. And in verse 12, after they’ve been killed, because the crowds don’t want to hear their preaching, they are caught up into heaven.

Have a nice day.

Your question is why Mose's and Elijah appeared with Christ on earth?...

They will be the 2 witness on earth before the 2nd advent of Christ.

Am sure that I will get all thumbs down from sunday school christains.

David,
You are a Christian. Stop this evil and deceptive form of missionizing. It degrades Christianity.

. It is, by definition, impossible for it to be "jewish" to believe in jesus. "Jewish" is, by defintion, what jews have historically and contemporarily believe. Since in neither scenario do we find "believing in jesus", then we must clearly realize that belief in jesus is not something "jewish". You can call it "biblical" (and still be wrong), but certainly not "jewish".
. On the side, the subject of Isaiah 53 is promised a "long life" and "seed" (i.e. physical children). Clearly this isn't about jesus.
. And Isaiah 7 is clearly not messianic if you read the whole chapter. and "alma" doesn't mean virgin either. You'd know that if you spoke hebrew (I guess it wasn't part of your "extensive jewish upbringing", huh?)
. On the side, Isaiah 9 can't be about jesus since, according to christianity, he's the "son" not the "father" (as the verse states). Nor did he have control of the government (to the contrary, the roman government killed him). And he certainly did not establish "endless peace".

oh, and lastly, I've decided that you truly epitomize everything I find intensely intellectually unsatisfying about christianity. (And you clearly do not understand hebrew.)

Moses represents the keys, or authority, to the gathering of Israel and Elijah represents the keys to the sealing powers of heaven. They came to commune with the Savior and to prepare Him for His ultimate sacrifice and atonement. They also transferred their keys to Christ so that He could give those keys, or authority, to the apostles. In these last days, Moses and Elijah returned again to transfer their keys, or authority, to Joseph Smith and his successors. We now have that same authority over the sealing powers of heaven and the gathering of Israel.

No. I believe there is nothing after this life. So I'd simply go along and pretend to be whatever the person wanted me to be until such time as I could escape, call the police, and have them arrested.

Then I'd make sure I sent them a letter every single day laughing at them for their stupidity in believing in something false.

David, your familiarity with Judaism and the Jewish belief is so tiny, that your insisting on calling yourself "Jewish" is almost unbelievable and outraging at once.

Read some Midrashim and Torah before you try to convert me through my own religion. That would be less insulting.

Awesome post, David...as always. Keep shining no matter what anyone says. They need Jesus, it's that simple.

To make it short, I can honestly say I would die for believing in Jesus. He is my all in all....my everything. He died for a wretched sinner like me, and the least I could do is die for Him.

"What do Jews believe", no longer "What do Jewish believe". besides even with the actuality that, beliefs in the afterlife and its nature determination between persons andor congregations. even with the actuality that i'm no longer a Jew (yet), from my research I keep in mind that we are to be extra preoccupied with what takes position in this existence.
