If you are too interested in things you should not be interested in, you could be in danger. You may be causing yourself problems by trying to find out things you don't need to know.

Curiosity killed the cat is a proverb used to warn against being too inquisitive lest you come to harm.

Curiosity killed the cat reminds us that being too curious can be dangerous. Example: "What do you think is down that dark street?" Reply: "I would rather not find out. Curiosity killed the cat."

Curiosity killed the cat recalls a story in which "the cat" was killed because he was too curious and followed "curiosity" too far. Example: "That reporter has been asking a lot of questions and the boss doesn't like it." Reply: "Curiosity killed the cat."

Cats are curious animals that like to investigate, but their curiosity can take them places where they might get hurt. Children especially, like cats, are curious and like to test to find out what is dangerous. Example: "My son stuck his finger into the electrical outlet and got a huge shock! He said he wanted to find out how it would feel." Reply: "It's a good thing he wasn't hurt! Curiosity killed the cat."

If you ask too many questions and nose in things that don't concern you it could have bad repercussions. Some things are best left lone, or left unsaid. I guess also if your too curious to know things people may not trust you and then never tell you anything or may just get bored of you asking. I'm not really sure where the term comes from though x

Cats are very curious, by nature. One often gets itself in bad situations, when he is curious and not paying attention to where he is and what he is doing.
Many years ago I was throwing clothes into the dryer, not paying attention. About two hours later, we got home from church, and I thought it was odd, that the dryer door was opened. The lint filter was full of grey hair. I started looking around for the cat. His equilibrium was terrible, his hair was almost gone. I believe, the only thing that saved him, was that he was heavy enough, that when he hit the dryer door, he fell out. He lived, but it took a while to recuperate.
