I know 100's of people, and common sense is a value to all of them.

Common Sense is usually defined by the person asking the question. What's common sense to you might not seem very sensible to everyone. We don't all live the same lives. We don't all experience the same things in the same ways. It's kind of arrogent to see what you believe in to be common sense and those that don't follow suit to be lacking in sense.

Because common sense contridicts everything that religion has taught since its inception. If you have common sense then you realize that there is no way there is some big scary guy in the sky that controls everything.

How many thumbs down can I get for this one?

Because using your common sense requires evaluating situations and making judgments based on the available information. There's always the chance that you could be wrong, and then be held accountable. It's much easier if someone else does the thinking for you and takes the blame.

Why is it called "Common Sense"? that makes no sense to me, it's not very common, you mean Logic? Logic isn't common at all, it's thinking, Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is the probable reason so few are willing to engage in it.

You mean like to be polite, and to save money for a rainy day, and to wash regularly, and to make sure your chicken is cooked all the way through, and not to hold a larg metal rod in a thunder storm?

...You might want to be a little more specific on what common sense you're talking about.

Simply put "the truth hurts" and is even harded to do.

and to follow what is common sense should be easy but I see most still do the opposite.
to top it off they usually come back later a say "I wish I would have listened to ..." so it is not like they where not warned.

Because, common sense is not so common. Not every one that says that they have or are exercising common sense is. What is common sense too one may not be to another, that is why it is not so common.

Common Sense is relative, I suppose, to the person speaking it, living it, or denying it as such.

To me it is common sense to choose Christ when the alternative is eternal damnation in hell.

To the athiest who thinks that once one dies they simply cease to exist, he is using "common sense".

It is further common sense to me that should I be wrong, then I have lost nothing. However, if the athiest is wrong, then he has lost everything!

because so many live in a world of denial and not being real about what is going on in the world and in their own world. we avoid being real because we have been taught to move away from who we really are and dumb ourselves, our minds and our feelings. common sense is too real, and therefore totally frightening to many of us.
