How can we help our children feel safe in school?

talk to them about the importance of reporting any bully like behavior and any threats as insignificant they may be. Let them know you are here for them and that you will talk when ever they need to and to listen as well. Teach them to be aware of their surroundings and know a teacher or staff member at school that they can turn to when they need to. Be pro-active in talking to your child and yes educate them.

Some say that it all boils down to mixed schooling and that we should seperate the girls from the boys, like the old days. This would mean that kids would have less distractions from schoolwork and they'd have to wait 'til after school to go chasing the other sex. I think it might be an idea, I mean all those hormones and heck I read my diary a while back and all I thought about at school were boys boys boys!

I work in a middle school. Most of the violence comes from broken homes and single parents who are low income and struggling to exist. It is so sad. You can't blame the kids, they are products of their upbringing.
I think that we who are able should have more programs for kids and help support school sports. There are lots of kids who would like to be in school sports, but can not afford it. Lets help by sponsering a kid or being more involved with the kids. I am coaching girls Volleyball to help make a difference.
