well basic idea is not to strain while passing stools.
fiber rich diet helps in this by increasing the bulk of stools & smooth passage thru colon & rectum.
i guess u know fiber rich diet -salad,whole grains, fruits etc
avoid prolonged attacks of constipation by occasionally using laxatives(warning :dont get addicted to it)
thats it

The very best way is to always keep yourself regular, to avoid having to strain to have a bowel movement. It is the straining that causes hemorrhoids in women.
So keeping yourself on a really high fibre diet would be best. There are cereal products that use psyllium that are considered the best for this. Personally, my body doesn't tolerate it.
If you find yourself unable to eat enough fibre to regulate you, you could always get into the habit of taking Metamucil every day. They now make tablets, so it's not like you have to force down a glass of fibre gel anymore.

To late to prevent them, you obviously are into the burning ring of fire phase. The dietary solution is generally to eat more fibre so you arn't putting any more pressure on a sensitive area. If you're not into veggies there are many over the counter products that can assist you in this matter. The otheR thing that you should NEVER, NEVER, EVER do is sit on cold stone or concrete. NEVER.
It'll pull your brain down into shorts
The last warning is : Don't get pregnant and sit down EVER

Eat a lot of fiber. Broccoli has an excellent source. Don't eat cheeses they block you up. Also don't strain when doing you business, if you sit and nothing happens get up and walk around. Exercise helps to keep the bowels moving. Wait until it is almost out of you to go to the toilet. It is uncomfortable to wait but feels better than hemmoroids♥

Don't get constipated. Eat plenty of fiber and fruit. If that doesn't help, try prune juice or over the counter stool softeners. If they persist see a doctor.

Fiber and stool softeners (natural ones exist). Must keep regular. No straining. No sitting on hard cold surfaces.

Preparation H is the best solution.
They do not know why it works, but it does work well.
Stay away from spicy foods.
