It depends what you mean by better than. Fried rice tastes better, but steamed has a better nutrient content and less fat and sodium.
Any steamed vegetable will have more vitamins and nutrients then having it fried, baked or sauteed.

Both are great.

To be more healthy, make your own fried rice.

Use brown rice, or good quality basmati, don't overcook it, drain and rinse it in cold water, make sure it's well drained before you fry it.

Use grape seed oil (it's better at really high temperatures than most others).

Flavour with chopped garlic and onion, have it smoking hot in your Wok, don't overwork it, it will go mushy, if it starts to stick add a shake of soya sauce, add this anyway, to taste.

I like to add prawn, ham, chicken, veg like peas, carrot, courgette and corn, dice the big ones the same size as the corn.

I don't do the egg thing, because I don't like them, mix it through the rice and lightly cook.

I'm having it for dinner - decided.

Fried may taste better but is bad for you I go for steamed basmati rice because it tastes delicious even though it is cooked in a healthier way and it goes with all foods not just indian.

Depends on what you mean, by better. Fried rice is usually tastier but it has alot of salt and fat, chlesterol, and who knows what. Steamed rice is usually just a little salt and maybe some margarine, if it is brown rice even better.

Fried Rice has extra nutritive goodies in it such as egg, meat, and veggies. For this reason Fried rice can be more nutritious for you. All things in moderation however. The "fried" bit can add a lot of extra calories and fatty cuts of meat can also add extra fat. If using lean meats, little oil, and egg, fried rice is both nutritious and delicious!

It's definitely tastier, but steamed is healthier I spose, though then again if you fry it in a healthy oil and do plenty of exercise, etc, then fried rice is definitely better, yeah I'm going with that!

in terms of flavour, variety and taste yes but steamed or boiled rice is the more healthier and nutritious in comparison. fried rice is made by thowing beaten and scrambled eggs into a wok and heated up in hot oil and adding boiled rice to it. and because it is fried, its not really healthy but what it lacks in it not being really good for you, it makes up for taste
