The problem is children are being increasingly sexualise these days. Small children are allowed the same freedoms as once would only be given to older children and this has resulted in them being more demanding and losing their childhoods. They think they are teenagers and want to dress like them. And clothing manufacturers are jumping on this by selling bras and g-strings to four-year-olds. And the saddest thing is that parents buy it all.

They keep making these clothes because people keep buying them. As a teacher AND a parent I am totally disgusted. I teach in a K - 3 building and you have got to see what these kids come in wearing... strappy heels, halter tops, hip hugger sweats with "juicy" or "sweet" on the @$$. (Aside from the fact we need a dress code, I totally think the parents need to start thinking)
(In all honesty, I don't even think teens should be wearing some of this stuff... and goodness, I've worn my share of mini skirts and belly shirts, so it's not like I'm not a prude!)
As far as clothing goes, my 2 year old daughter has lots of clothes from the Gap Outlet, JC Penny's, and Target. Babies R Us also has a brand called Koala Kids that run through size 4T. The prices are more than fair and the clothes are stylish and girly without being frilly or sleazy. Target also runs a line of casual clothes that I buy for day care and play. If you catch them at the right time winter clothes are $3.77 a piece and summer clothes can be as low as $2.88 a piece!
Good luck!

Society is letting young girls grow up way too fast. I wore dresses with leggings, shorts and t-shirts, and skorts (skirts with built-in shorts for modesty) when I was little, and I have not grown up to be one of the girls in high school who wears mini skirts and tank tops and all sorts of clothing that leave little to the imagination.
If parents want their children to be fashionable and comfortable, they should shop in Gymboree, The Gap, and even The Limited Too (for some things.) If they do this, they might end up my age (18) wearing modest clothes from American Eagle, Gap, J. Crew etc. instead of wearing uncomfortable, inappropriate clothes.

I completely agree with you I have that problem and I have a three year old, sorry to say I am old fashion and don't think little girls should wear short skirts or tank with one strap that swoop down. They are hard to find descent clothing but for toddlers I know Carters carries good clothes, but My daughter is growing and it's more difficult to find age appropriate clothing for her.

I totally agree with you, my daughter is 4, and out of toddler clothes, but her size carries "hoochie" clothes. I have found that Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren still make age appropriate clothes. I go shopping at Macy's and Nordstroms. But for a more moderate budget I would try Sears and Mervyns.

Yeah... I hope that changes real quick too. I think that dressing your 4 year old in a halter top and miniskirt is just wrong. (my husband calls them prosta-tots) It's welcoming child molesters to check out your baby. I'm not kidding. 1 out of 3 children are molested these days by a close family friend or relative. It is a serious problem that we as a country need to help prevent

I totally agree. I go to thrift stores to get my daughter's play clothes. I hate shopping for clothes for my 8 year old because it seems to me that the in style today screams tramp. Young girls don't need to be wearing halter tops and skirts that barely cover their butts.

Simply put, we live in a totally disgusting society that wants girls looking "sexy" at younger and younger ages every year. They have really cute toddler and little girl clothing at Wal-Mart, and it is classy too!
