First question, have you been hit hard by anything on your right side? Second Have you been exercising more than usual? sounds like one of 5 things, muscle cramp, broken rib, pulled intercostal muscles, pleurisy or pleural friction rub. All except for the muscle cramps need to be evaluated by an MD, So go see your Doc and hope for the cramps or pulled muscles cause they are the least problematic to fix.
Good luck!

That happens to me too, also on my right side.
I went to my doctor and she told me to do Side stretches.
You lift up your right arm over your head and stretch over to the left as much as you can(not too much tough) you should feel it stretching. You do them in about 15 pulses. I do almost 3 sets of 15.
I hope I explained it well enough so you do it properly.

You bruised a rib, have had the same problem practically all my life.
There's nothing you can do to fix it, just give it time to heal itself and be very protective of that side.
PS it's easily re injured.

If I were you I'd do what reesie271 says to do since she is a nurse.
