We have traveled and lived internationally with our 2 kids--flying with them on veeerrry long flights since they were 2 months old. Go to the dollar store and get some toys your son has never seen. If he uses a pacifier, have him use it during take off and landing to help sooth the change in air pressure. Hopefully you will sit next to people who like kids, cuz if you get with some cranky person, your life can be hell. I used to let my kids get up and take laps around the plane, but both my daughters were (are) very active and needed to move. Don't take any loud toys that can bother your neighbors. Get a couple of small travel toys from an educational toy shop. there are all sorts of cool, mini things that 16 month olds can get into. Take lots of snacks cuz nowadays, they don't bring food often enough for your little guy. Have fun and enjoy Hawaii!

i've got performed 3 trans atlantic flights that were13-18 hours in era (which contains layovers) with my daughter. First one she replaced into below 2 and the protection stress nonetheless offered her a seat. If the baby does not have his own area I enormously advise finding out to purchase an further seat. there is not any way which you will no longer flow insane if he has to take a seat on your or your friends lap the full way. exceptionally in case you're in financial gadget this is going to likely be complicated to even devour if the youngsters is on your lap. The airline never suggested something to me some vehicle seat, she replaced into 21 months on the 1st flight and that i basically buckled her into the lap belt in the airline seat. My daughter did fantastic on the flights, basically had to stroll around a pair situations. i'm frequently no longer an recommend of using meds for makes use of alternative than what's meant, yet there have been a pair mothers and dads on those flights that could have used some benadryl, can help if he's as energetic as you assert.

i havent but i took him on a 2 hour car drive and it was pure hell. if you have a calm baby and can plan his nap time during the flight it might work. books are helpful because kids can hear the same one over and over again. plus your not resxtricted to your seat the whole ride so you could take him out and exercise a bit.

Hopefully, it'll be his nap time, for your sake and the sake of fellow passengers. It's likely his ears will hurt on take off and landing, so take along a pacifier to help pressure on his ears from the sucking motion. Aloha

You could try to request the bulkhead, which has the bassinet but he may be too big for it. Just take some toys and things for him to play with and pray that he goes to sleep.
