yes and here is one of my favs for u all
Although you are a friend of mine
and letters we exchange,
I wouldn't know you on the street,
and doesn't that seem strange?

You hold a place within my life,
unusual and unique;
We share ideals and special dreams,
and still, we do not speak.

I picture what I think you are,
perhaps you picture me.
An intriguing game for both of us
for someone we can't see.

So for this friendship we possess,
we owe this mail a debt,
Perhaps the charm lies in the fact
that we have never met.

Not only would I send a poem, I have. Several, in fact, and they have always been appreciated. Sometimes the guy would even quote a bit of one, something that everyone around us wouldn't realize was something special we shared. If you write a few, often a guy will get over any shyness he might have about writing one himself, and then you too will have something special from his heart as well. Besides, would you want to be with someone who doesn't appreciate you for who you are, poetic heart and all?

As a poet with published work, yes, I would. Even with that aside, it shows how you are truly feeling and also that you are willing to put thought and effort into telling them. I gave one to a former boyfriend, after that we were engaged. Things didn't work out but had nothing to do with lack of feelings for each other. Point is, he appreciated the effort and love I had put into it. If anyone would care to see any of my poems, including that one, feel free to ask. I am dragonz_tearz_21 at yahoo.

Love is the answer to everything. All you ever need is love,
communication and understanding. That's what I figured out so
far. If you are down, you need to get up and start doing something with
your life. Don't need to be shy, be straight forward and allways say what
you want and expect from the others.

Nope - I wouldn't because I can't think of any guy who would appreciate or condone that sort of behaviour.. most modern men who appreciate poetry tend to write it themselves.

I'd send something they'd really appreciate - a DVD, a CD album, a 6-pack of beer, something like that!
