The establishment of a secular (atheist) government in the US and subsequent revolutions in Europe forced Christians to stop executing people.

But, it wasn't because they wanted to stop.

fci pitch,

the additional comment was directed at the comment about Christian nations giving up executing non-Christians.

Nice red herring issue but totally irrelevant to the question asked, as usual.

Europeans nations were referred to as "states" as in "nation state."

to luvwinz:

There are large groups of Christians who are actively working towards establishing a Christian theocracy in the US & around the world.

And, advocating the death penalty for all non-believers.

If you seriously believe that Christians would raise a hand to stop them if the GOP began executing atheists, you obviously do not pay attention to the news.

The GOP would get more political support if it began rounding up and detaining, torturing, executing atheists than it does for doing so to Muslims.

Muslims and Jews were continually executed and exiled.

But we don't talk about that, because we recognize Christanity is an ideology and the followers are not a reflection of it.
Even though majority of Christians supported it.

Yet Muslims have a small minority with no countries recognizing terrorism as a positive thing but Islam is continuall attacked as an "evil" religion.
What a load of crap!

My question to you then would be: Do you honestly feel that today's Christians would call for the execution of non-believers? I simply don't see the evidence of it. I'm not sure why so many are concerned with atrocities commited hundreds of years ago by people long dead. Do we still hold Germans responsible for the actions of Hitler? Do we still hold Americans responsible for the actions of past slave owners? It's good to know history, but why live in the past?

in the 21st century how is this relevant? Christianity today does not seek to execute people that don't believe. One of the principles this country was founded on was freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.

your ignorance is astounding! You state that Christians are trying to establish a Theocracy.....your proof of that is what?

There were no states. It was British Colony.

Poor history.
