Its not an insult. India has over 100 recognized languages and with a billion people living there, millions are speaking different languages.

However, English is still one of the largest recognized language in India. After the United States and Great Britain, India has the most English speakers.
Plus don't forget Great Britain ruled over India for the longest time (no other colony longer). There had to be some lasting influence (only 60 years ago)

Also it is very "hip" to talk English in India and wear American clothes etc.

I'm so glad my parents moved to America before i was born lol!

You're not ignorant at all, or insulting IMHO!

Unfortunately, as well as the multiple dialect problem, the simple fact is that most (or even ALL) of the Indian people IN India who can afford to regularly USE a computer - never mind OWN one - are able to speak English. Money buys education, and computer access...!

Combine this with the fact that those same people don't all speak the same Indian dialect / language, and you end up using a neutral language that most of them understand to some extent, instead of choosing one Indian dialect and being seen as biased against ALL those dialects you ignore!

Things will gradually change though, I suppose. Maybe one day there'll be several different 'Yahoo! India's, each in a different dialect??

Because India is not entirely Hindi and the Islamists the hidiwallahs think that they are alone entitled to live in this world . India has a population theat speaks hubndreds of languages and using one language will exclude the a lot of those who do not know that particular language and suing /englis would enable the people of all the language groups to understand thigs though only a minority in each language group the total numbe of people participating would be much more thqn the total of any one language group.. Sorry tp point out that the lack of his understanding gives rise to lot of probelms among the people of Inida .and in th ename of haveing a common language as a national language he ahindiwallahs are trying hard to subjugate the other language groups by reducing hem to a second rate level.in stead of try to do something to achieve parity among the various grouos by adopting one common international language as the official language .They forget that English is also a spoken /mother tongue of one class of citizens in India , the Anglo-indians and so is a native language of ainida also now .

English is one of the official languages of India; a holdover of the colonial times which were as late as the 1940's.

Gambhir is back in form as he in basic terms scored a century in kinfolk circuit so it would a competent concept to call in back for the 4th attempt and replace him, although Rahane or Tiwary would properly be a competent selection too.
