The Americans who represent the US in the news and other high profile places are generally disliked. BUT I believe this is because people tend to generalise. I have spent a lot of time in the US over the past 6 years and the average, everyday American is nothing like those we see on our TVs. I have been treated well, invited to many of their get-togethers and take to restaurants where I have not been allowed to contribute any money. Sure Americans have a different lifestyle to Australians and therefore their priorities in life are very different. I for one like Americans and enjoy their company and the differences in lifestyles. I also enjoy debating these differences.

I think that would depend on the individual American. There are many Americans that come to Australia to experience a relaxed, multicultural, friendly society. However, there are also lots of Americans that come to our country and spend the entire time telling us why America is so great, pay-out Australia and and, generally, are rude.

Unfortunately, the majority of Americans who I have met have been very rude, loud and over-confident. I think this may be ruining the reputation of Americans who are genuinely friendly and polite people.

Americans are liked everywhere, except the middle east ;)

And if an American carries enough dollars then he will be liked by every living human being on this planet hehehehe

God Bless the USA :)

Yes!!!

The very best way to be popular as an American Tourist when in a foreign country is to acquire large stacks of the local currency and smilingly give it away to everyone you encounter.

They will like you a lot, trust me.

Bon Voyage!!!!

If they behave like loud-mouth people always saying that America is better, of course they would be disliked. Wouldnt Americans dislike Australian behaving this way?
