Bunch of 'em had jews and christians in them. During the medieval times it was the muslim nations who were the more "enlightened" (not all, cough Ottoman Empire...).

They futhered mathematics and other sciences in those times.

Egypt is still under Muslim rule, has been for centuries, and there are 11 million coptic christians. We as Muslims are proud of that fact!

Muslims ruled Spain for 800 years yet you will be hard pressed to find Muslims there.

Prior to the crusades, the Muslims had control of the Holy Land and allowed people of all faiths to come and go as they pleased. They allowed access to Jerusalem to the Christians and lived in peace. When the crusaders overtook Jerusalem they killed everyone in the city (men, women and children) and closed the city to Muslims.
