...of the universe?

More so than just the big bang. What if they actually had a ton of mathematical, scientific, etc.evidence of it?

Would it affect religion at all?

No. Organized religion is much more about "group think" and safety in numbers than the debate over creation/evolution. It is only because this is the place that current science and religion butt heads most directly that anybody even cares. Whether the world was flat or the earth revolves around the sun were "religious" issues once too, but I don't hear many people arguing about those anymore. But religion hasn't gone anywhere...

I think the whole additiude of athiests toward Christians or people of faith in a Creator is that they are dilusional and deny evidence that proves otherwise. The fact is, nobody can prove anything. You cannot prove evolution and just as any other THEORY we are all entitled to believe what we want unless we are forced by authorities to believe in something different (like in some governmental systems). Science is presentation of facts compiled into theory, nothing more. No one can even PROVE that atoms exist. I work in the electrical industry. Our whole trade is based off of theory. Nobody can prove that electricity works the way we think it does. It is all theory, however convincing it is.

Your question was that if there was concrete evidence that absolutely proved without a doubt that creation was not devine. Christians and other Religions are not stupid. Of course you would have the majority of people that would try to ignore evidence or bend it into their faith. If you said you could absolutely prove that creation was started by the big bang theory, you still could not prove where the matter came from. No matter how much you think you can prove, people of intellegence will still try to figure out what caused that to happen. The fact is we cannot make something out of nothing. Even if you said something happened to spawn life on this earth. Where did that something come from. What happened to create this universe, not to mention life?

That is a good question though. I seriously doubt religion would cease. Most faiths, including Christianity, believe in a Creator, but they don't know exactly what the Creator did to Create. They don't know everything about creation or the complexities of the devine being who created it. It is fair to say that if life was created by God, he is a far superior being than us. There are several things that science cannot even begin to explain. Religious people generally have an understanding that they do not know everything. We have finite minds. I cannot comprehend the concept of eternity. Can you? Try to imagine something that has no beginning and no end. We can't. Everything we know has a beginning and an end.

Religion would not stop completely. Some would hold to their faith with the hope that there is more that they do not understand. People would be confused and the world would fall into a deep depression because of the dismissal of what they believe to be absolute truth. Morality would dissolve and we would end up destroying ourselves. Religious beliefs are the foundation of morals. Without a belief in a greater cause, there is no reason to live a life of nobility. The only motive for anyone would be self preservation and satisfaction.

I assume you mean a naturalistic explanation of what caused the big bang, and what came before that. I don't think it would make a difference. They would choose not to believe it.

We already have 150 years worth of overwhelming evidence, in a wide variety of scientific endeavours of the FACT of evolution. Christians in particular, ignore the evidence.

Ironically, they love to use science when they think it supports their view (ie, archeological evidence for Jesus, "scientific" explanations for the flood, etc)

This shows that they have their god-centered world view first...only if science doesn't contradict, will they will use it

The reaction would be the same as if all churches came up with a ton of mathematical, scientific, etc, evidence that evolution is correct after all.

i nice little what if "?"
the fact is science has already offered very convincing evidence of the big bang and evolution
they do actually have a ton of mathematical, scientific, etc.evidence of it?
and it doesn't seam to affect religion at all
because religious people are following the desires of there hearts instead of the evidence that would lead them to the truth
and i guess these thumbs downs are proving there's a lot of desire driven religious people here

ok you sound distinctly intelligent so i will place it like this: Which sounds greater logical An omnipresent being made human beings out of dirt, Or as existence kinds we developed and mutated into the species we are? And evolution has been shown, you will locate the fossils "Evolve" collectively as finding at them. Now it is yet another undertaking you're right now/gay/bi Did you at any element on your existence choose for what you have been interested in? Now god says people who're born like this might bur perpetually in hell. nicely that's not honest now's it?. The bible says god is loving good? nicely torturing peoples souls in hellfire for eternity would not sound very loving does it? it extremely is unquestionably with the help of defenition EVIL ("that which reasons harm or destruction or misfortune").Now the bible talks approximately god being loving, yet he has killed over 2 MILLION in that "Holy" e book, guess how many devil has killed? 10, yeah that's good 10!.So the bible contradicts itself, on MANY tiers. If there have been no faith the WTC might nonetheless be up, there may well be such a great number of greater human beings in this earth and we could all be residing in peace and cohesion(For the main section). And do you recognize how lots the christian dark a protracted time value us, in terms of knowlege and technological understanding? we'd probobally be residing on diverse planets with the help of now and exploring the galaxy.

Of course. People believes in cold, hard facts that they can touch and see with their eyes. Religion is about faith, which is altogether different. There have been some physical manifestations of the Bible being true, such as Noah's Ark being found near a Mountain in Turkey. It was made of gopher wood, just like it said in the Bible and was the exact dimensions etc. with cages for animals. You should look it up - it's very interesting. :)

Science is how the world works. I've never heard of a religion that claimed that the world doesn't work. Scientific fact does not contradict religious belief.

Your question is a little confusing. "convincing evidence of the creation..?
...of the universe?
Someone would have had to create it. The literal religious will pick up on that and the question will not be answered as you intended.

If science shows convincing evidence of the creation, it will thus prove that there is indeed a creator...yes?
Thus, religion and science would agree. Yes?
