that one of the main reasons people cross over illegaly is because the legal process takes so long?
my mom's uncle applied for a legal residency when he was 41. he just now got approved and he is over 80 years old by now.
this is an amazingly rediculously long time to wait.
who will agree with me that if america wants less illegals crossing over, we must first lighten the process of getting here legaly.
i mean seriously. if you are desperate, poor, and need an oppertunity in america, would you rather save your life now, or wait 40 years when its too late?

if you will all review "sealRborders" and "oneidmnst...'s" answers you will see where most of the racism comes from
i'd also like to add that i am by no means justifying their law-breaking, but i am merely pointing out a good reason why they do it

i agree with you 110 %!! the problem is that ppl don't know or care about this.. they don't realize how poor ppl in Mexico and other places are!!
If this ppl had a way to make the legal process was easier and FASTER ppl would do it the right way.. but alot of them DON"T have a choice.. its either wait and have your kids drop out of school to work so they can just eat.. starve or cross over illegally.. its not hard to see why they do it.... once they are here their families have a shot at a decent life!!!
Now with that said.. i don't think amnesty is a good thing.. but i do think that they should have a program where the ppl that lean English, blend in society, and have NO Criminal record should get some sort of permanent resident or visa.. this is just suck a touchy subject!
BTW.. i have been to Mexico and seen allot of poor ppl.. i seen ppl living in a LANDFILL!! I mean kids were on top of this NASTY landfill digging for FOOD!!!!!!!!!

That should be a fair solution to all the Illegal issues this country is having...Make the process easier and fair for everybody who is willing to work and adopt America as their country...If the Illegals came here Illegaly is because they are not offered legal ways to come here legally, period

Questioner asks: "one of the main reasons people cross over illegally is because the legal process takes so long?"
ChrisJ says: "Did you know that part of the reason it takes so long is because we have to account for all of the illegals that come here. The more that come here illegally, the less we can let in legally."
I say: "Catch-22, anyone?"

I agree with you. I see many people complaining about Mexicans illegal. There is nothing wrong with wanting a better life , it would be a fool not to want one. If the process did not take so long and be so complicated, Mexicans would not have to come here illegally , and they could work and pay taxes like everyone else.

OK, one more time.
What part of "ILLEGAL" can't you idiots understand???
I bought my home 20 years ago. There was a miserable old woman who lived next door. I thought well she won't live long. Thanks to your spin on things she is now dead. I shot her a minute ago. Just had to wait too long.
And to those who KNOW how bad it is all over the world, how many are we supposed to support. Some estimates place illegal’s at 10% of the total population. For you folks who failed 2nd grade arithmetic, that is 1 out of every 10 people you encounter is an illegal. Next time you are at the mall, start counting. My state's prison population is 30% non-citizen. Los Angeles gangs are heavily populated by illegal aliens. 1 out of 6 hospitals open 10 years ago is now closed. Try to get access to an emergency room when 200 illegal’s plug the waiting room because they have a cold.
Laws are in place for reasons. To ignore them makes you a criminal. To aid someone breaking them makes you a criminal. So welcome to the land of criminals.
BTW, was your uncle worth anything to start with? Could he read, write, do basic math or was he just another welfare recipient on this way here with 20 or 30 mouths he couldn't feed.
As another answerer remarked, "cry me a river". But don't worry, this country is finished. You will win and in winning you will lower the standard of living to that of some third world country with no running water and strictly wood burning for heat. I am old, I probably won't see it actually happen but my children will. That I am certain and I have you and your kind to thank for it. Welcome to America, the land of criminals.

It takes such a long time because so many people are dying to get here - these people need to be profiled and registered to help prevent another act of terrorrism..
We can't support everyone and their freakin' mother you know. What about the real Americans who have decades of family trees here? Where the hell are all of our rights going? Why are we being crammed with illegals?
Stop taking their side just because you're like them.
Why not take our (TRUE CITIZENS) side? You are a legal citizen, right?
They need to stop pussyfooting around and running away from the problem when it could be fixed if the majority of them stuck up for themselves!! We have 20 million illegals here!! With that amount of people they could've reconstructed Mexico by now!

I disagree. I immigrated from Canada in 1995 and got a green card within a few months. I applied for citizenship after the 5 year waiting period. Apart from the fact that the INS lost my forms once, it was not that big an ordeal considering I did it in Los Angeles aka the busiest office in the country.
I have never met anyone who has waited 40 years. There must be more to this story then you are telling us.
The system is no different for Canadians then it is for any other country, by the way.

Please...this argument is just ridiculous. Why cant illegals just admit that they like to come here and take care of our governmental services and money?
If the illegals just stayed in their country and worked, guess what, they would better their own economy instead of destroying ours. Oh Wait...that's why they come here illegally...so they can send the money home and make a profit on the conversion.
Give it up. Its nothing but a sob story for you people.

Did you know that illegal aliens all know before they enter the US illegally that they are breaching an international border with a foreign nation and violating US immigration laws.
Did you know that virtually all illegal aliens know once they get on US soil that they are criminals, which is why they continue to break one law after another, like using stolen social security numbers, a FELONY, because they know it is against the law for them to work here and for any employer to hire them?
Did you know that illegal aliens drive the wage rate down for all US citizens and legal immigrants because there are too many of them and they offer to work for lower than our minimum wages?
Did you know that honest, decent people immigrate legally, and all illegal aliens are criminals, liars, thieves, dishonest and untrustworthy, not the sort of people we want or need in the USA?
Did you know illegal aliens are bringing in a myriad of dieases which are communicable, which have here-to-for been eradicated in the USA, because they are not subjected to the medical exams required by immigration authorities?
I mean seriously!

So what that's life. Did you know Mexico refuses to help the U.S. War on Terror. You just seem think U.S. is responsible for everyone and everything that relates to Mexico somehow the U.S. Must change it laws while Mexico preaches about it they sure don't change their laws to accomadate other people coming into Mexico to do the jobs Mexicans left. Mexico deports them, robs thems, sexual abuses women.People who cannot even enforce immigration laws in Mexico are raking in the money. Get your own country in order stop demanding what your country refuses to do that America must do that is change it laws so the rich in Mexico can continue living like kings and queens. Let American pay for everything.
