Welcome to my world.
As far as I have been able to determine, there are only a few ways to keep cats from going after your food...
1. Eat only diet cat food ... our cats hate it and won't go near it.
2. Eat in the shower, with the bathroom door firmly closed
3. Eat in your yard ... think of it as picnicking
4. Tether a small, yappy dog to your ankle during mealtimes
5. Let loose a dozen crickets (or mice) in your house just before you sit down to eat ... that should be a nice diversion to keep your cat away.
I suppose you could crate your cat, but it just isn't worth all the flying fur and scratches, is it?
Best of luck!

My cat was going crazy once when I was eating grapes. It was a clear container and the cat was biting the side and trying to reach over. When as a joke I finially put a grape in front of her she just looked at it and batted it around. I think cats like to explore and will want to get on top of anything new once. I don't think my cat was begging for food but just wanted a new toy.

My cat does this constantly and goes as far as trying to swat the food out of my hand or off my fork. It drives me insane and the only relief I get is if I lock him in my room in which case he cries loudly or breaks something.

Yes! Specially those people who don't feed their cat on time and don't train their cat good manners.
Train him and you'll see the difference. Beside, you are his master and his friend.

Yes, my cat is really bad. The worst part is that once she gets it she takes a little bite then walks away, it drives me crazy.

one of my cats will come up to my food and sniff it and once he realizes he isn't getting any he is content to sit there and watch me eat it. I lift my fork to my mouth and he lifts his head and you can see that he is mentally eating it. it's really cute. we don't make a habbit out of feeding our cats people food

What kind of catfood do you feed her or him? Maybe she's not getting proper nourishment from that food. I spend the extra money and buy Iam's. It's better for them.
