It's a nice thought, but nothing is truly free. It would mean increased taxes, probably hitting the middle class (once again) most of all. There are already MANY federally funded financial aid and scholarship outlets -- I would rather see better marketing of those.

Also, as others have pointed out, some states have some free universities for state residents. And a lot of state schools have lower tuition for residents.

I think there are other things that need to be given free to US citizens first...like health care. Im in a dilemma right now because im currently a college graduate doing a 9 month internship where i make just enough to pay my normal bills like car, car insurance, and student loans, that i dont have enough left over for health.

So while free tuition would help rid my student loans, i'd still have to pay an arm and a leg for suitable healthcare.

Absolutely. As long as they maintain a high grade-point average. Producing the best college graduates is in the best interests of this country, both economically and socially. If a college education is available only for those that can afford it, then we're overlooking too many possibilities of advancing our science and technology and fostering class inequality.

Yes,if a foreign student can get a free education, I strongly believe a student here be the same because look at the armed forces can get the same treatment to if they were to join the service.free------------------------------------------------------

In certain states, students can attend school for free. California did have it for awhile. I still think texas does.
