God as a spirit is knowing that even though you can't feel God or see God in things that you do, He's always standing right next to you helping you and leading your footsteps wherever you go. Fruits of the spirit are what God will give you in return for you giving to him through titheing, offereing, praise and worship.

This is the way to find out if they have the Spirit of God: If a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ became a human being, that person has the Spirit of God. If a prophet does not acknowledge Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist. You have heard that he is going to come into the world, and he is already here.
1st John 4:2,3
When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, your lives will produce these evil results: sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, idolatry, participation in demonic activities, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.

I believe.......
The fruits of the spirit are self-respect. Being a person you can love and admire because of who you know yourself to be.
Knowing yourself to be kind.......by showing kindness to others.
Knowing yourself to be loving........by giving love to others without expectation or condition.
Knowing yourself to be compassionate......by show compassion and generosity to those in need.
Knowing yourself to be humble.........by living as an example of how to be a good person without the expectation of praise or reward.
These ideals among others are the fruits of the spirit in my understanding.
