My kids are still to young for this, but when I was growing up, my father said I couldn't date until I moved out of his house. What that meant was that I dated secretly and my parents never met my boyfriends. I got into tons of trouble too - life threatening situations - where I was afraid to call my parents for help because I had been out with a boy (this is not an exaggeration; I grew up in Miami).
I plan to learn from this mistake and plan offer to allow my kids to go on supervised "dates" as soon as they ask. Maybe start with something like a double date at the TGI Fridays with mom and dad, then graduate to the movies where we sit in another row, to private time in a public place (like walk around the mall for 2 hours and we'll meet back at JCPenneys).
My hope is that by modeling appropriate dating behavior and by keeping the lines of communication open, my kids will make better choices than I did - dating-wise; I married well so I guess that's what really counts :-)

I let my sons and daughter acknowledge they have a girl-boyfriend at around 15... there is limited dating. As long as the other parents approved, I've transported them to the movies, the mall, skating rinks and such, and I picked them up. I was also concerned about the age and driving capability of the girl or boy they were interested in.

well i had a boyfriend at age 7 but until you have a car and a job its not really like yo have a boyfriend
i think that when i was young i wanted a boyfriend so bad but now i realize that its much much better to wait until you are older than 18
but my parents left it up to me cus they trust me and they know i wouldn do anything stupid with him
and when you have a bf/gf when you are in elementary Jr high or high school it really doesn't matter they wont last and they aren't reall relationships

There was no age in our household that you could date!
It all was about reponsiblity and showing that we were ready and responsible!!
My oldest sis was 16 then my other sis was 14 I was 16
It depends on when a girl gets interested in guys or vise versa
I personally don't think their is a specific age for anything in life!!

properly... no longer at 14. At 14 my kids would not be allowed subsequently far. Co-ed dances and stuff yeah, yet no longer date. crew dates at 16, and heavily courting at 18. At 18, no longer at my homestead. i'd pay for a hotel room for the boyfriend or have a relations pal positioned him up if he lived some distance away. in the journey that they keen to sleep over at his position, that would want to be out of my fingers. even as i develop into courting my husband he stayed with me a number of cases, yet slept in yet another room (and we had no funds for a hotel, no one to positioned him up, and he lived a 4 day rigidity away.) If I allowed my 14 twelve months previous subsequently far i'd have an challenge with both of you seeing one yet another each day in college and then the full weekend. That makes a relationship sense some distance extra intense than that's. Grown united statesand mature relationships regularly recommend you spot one yet another once per week once you're courting. You saying that's some distance makes me ask your self in simple terms how some distance he lives from you. even as i develop into transforming into up the youngsters in the community might want to journey their motorcycle 15 miles to get to their job each day in the summer. If he lives lower than that from you why isn't he driving his motorcycle? How about the bus? And no, it would not be acceptable. even with if no longer some thing got here about, in case you 2 say "We spent the nighttime at the same time" what do you imagine human beings will imagine? they're no longer going to assert "oh, properly, he slept on the settee" or some thing like that. So... in short... you're youthful. you do not favor to work out one yet another each day of the week. that's irrelevant. and that i do not see a reason i'd evaluate it as a figure.

My daughter is not allowed to date until shes 17. 16 is a terrible age to let a child date.. they are getting their drivers license and taking too many other risks.
