read english books, and newspapers... read english webpages... watch english movies... and talk, talk, talk. if there is no one to talk to talk to yourself. imagine how you would explain ordinary everyday things to someone who does not know them, but in english. if you miss a word, look it up, or work your way around it. it helps really.

A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of online courses which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt

Swimming in English printed material such as newspapers & magazines will really help - you'll pick up lots of stuff without even noticing it. These are better than books because the photographs and other accompanying bits will assist your understanding of the language.

Watching quality English television is good too; news, documentaries, films & so on.

Get around people who speak english all the time. This will help you. If you can, get with a conversational english group or class. Also, go with a tutor if possible.

Watch T.V. do not watch the shows with all the ethnic and slang of the week. This will only confuse you. Watch the news. They try the hardest to come across as someone who wants to converse in english. Just do not believe most of the thing they are saying

If you have the money, a tutor might be one way to go.

Otherwise, try a local community college or college or university class.
