Of course you'll need to program your sony remote to make it do all those jobs .I have one too .It's a bit of work but can be done using the manual .Here's the link to the manual

I have an older version of this remote and found once I got the hang of programming the thing, it worked very well and I am quite pleased with it.

The best place I have found is a place called www.remotecentral.com for help with remotes, especially sony remotes. They have an excellent user community with moderators that are extremely helpful in answer questions and programming problems.

Macros are a series of instructions that is executed by pressing one button. In other words, you can program all of the following by pressing one button on the remote...

1. turn on tv
2. turn on dvd player
3. set to correct source on tv
4. play disc
