It is VERY important because only then will the teacher be keeping up with modern techniques, with new ideas in the field, and with being sure her/his teaching style works for the LEARNING styles of her/his students. Always moving ahead and improving is essential.

because no one is perfect (nope, not even teachers) and we want to try and give children the best possible education.
