I am looking into my family history and believe a relative died there in 1861

I have found a reference for Turfy Gill Hall at: http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:-IP6TpY1RrwJ:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentmere+lake+district+gill+hall&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=30.

There is another reference to a fell known as Hall Gill in Kentmere, Westmorland.

"The river Kent begins above the reservoir in the heights of Bleathwaite Crag. It collects beneath Kentmere Common in the reservoir which was built in 1848 to control the flow of water to the lower pastures. Lingmell Gill also feeds into the reservoir. Beside the reservoir sits a disused quarry and a cottage formerly used for maintenance of the river. The river opens out into a transitory lake called Kentmere Tarn just south of the confluence with Hall Gill."

In addition there is a further candidate: Hebblethwaite Hall Gill, also known as Penny Farm Gill, is a small limestone gorge set on the edge of open moorland a few kilometres east of the town of Sedbergh .

I have a suspicion that you are not looking for a stately home called Gill Hall at all, but for one of the many peaks in the Lake District bearing the name of Gill.
