Because schools don`t seem to place any importance on grammer or language any more. They also don`t teach skills like cookery, needlework or woodwork to any usefullness. My daughter can`t even thread a needle, and she hasn`t got any idea how you make an omlette or cook a chicken!

Because we are uneducated. To the person who never "learnt" Latin in school, it is only because you did not take the course. I took Latin in high school because it is the basis for many languages, e.g.,French, Spanish, and of course, Italian. A knowledge of Latin gives you a head start on learning these languages and more. It will also enable you to figure out the meaning of many words without having to consult a dictionary. Latin and Greek are also the languages of choice in scientific terminology. Anybody who wishes to enter the scientific arena, from geologists to doctors, is benefitted by a knowledge of Latin(and Greek). Some of you out there are altogether too proud of your ignorance.

Well I use i.e. that's what I have been taught in school. I barely see e.g., in fact I don't think I ever have. But you shouldn't worry about it, you know what each means and that's all that matters. Holla Peace ~1~

Lost of people also say they want to cancel an event and put it on next week instead. What they mean is to postpone an event.
But the worst misuse I hear is "next friday" when they dont mean the next friday but the friday in the next week.

When you're done with this could you give a quick refresher course on the use of the apostrophe? Thanks, I would but I've done it before and no one listened to me then, maybe you'll have better luck.
