I posted a question like:“4 people who think (only as a last resort) that spanking should be an option parents”. 80% of “answers” sounded childLESS ppl or those "give him time out & cuddle him b/c 4 spitting in gr&ma’s face since only did it b/c he needs more love" (vomits) parents. If yr first words to my question R "I think spanking is always wrong" Why R U answering it?! Do ppl really READ the questions here, why not ANSWER the ACTUAL question then at the END mention that U don’t advocate xyz thing? If the question isn't racist/anti-social/evil, etc why be a dick & try to make the asker feel guilty/like a bad person? Also why do people say to askers "Get counseling?" If most ppl here had situations where everyone in their conflict agreed to &/or could afford/had the time 4 professional therapy don’t U think they wld be there not here asking strangers 4 input? Finally, ppl who post a 700 page dissertations as an answer, please stop. post the gist, link the rest, 6 paragraphs tops!

If they give a stupid enough answer you can click to "Report" them. If it is a so so answers, you can click the thumbs down icon. Try putting as the first line of your question: Serious replies only please. Good luck with that. It would probably scare us to know the average age during the 8am to 8pm time period on Yahoo Answers!!

Yes this happens a lot around here. It especially happens with a controversial issue like you had--and spanking is one of the most controversial. And I know from experience it happens even if you specify you only want to hear from people who believe in spanking. It is an issue that people just get hysterical about and can not help but give the anti-spanking position.

Just ignore them--and read the people who answered you. I personally don't think they should be kicked out. Nor do I favor reporting them, I am a beleiver in free speech and I think with it the truth prevails in the end.

No, because unfortunately some people are just stupid.
It isn't their fault, they just are.

And for the record, I've hit my 4 year old once, on the hand, and I've never had the need to do it again. There are so many other ways to teach kids than spanking, but I'm not against using it as a last resort, if it will keep her from harm.

hitting kids is not good, make no mistake. but i am willing to accept it in certain situations.
when i was 2, i was jamming my fingers, and a fork, into the plug socket. my mother caught me and spanked me. she probably couldn't have told me back then why that was so wrong in a way i would have understood, but believe me, i never went near that plug again.

i don't think men should hit kids, they don't know their own strength. and it really only should be done in emergencies.
in answer to the rest of your question, its because:
a. people don't read the question
b. they don't read it because they are rushing to have their moronic answer be the first
c. they give cr@p answers because they are lazy and want the 2 points, but without being reported for writing no real answer.

thats my theory.

Yeah, I understand your issue. And yes. I spank my 2 year old son as a last resort. I give him many options to stop what he is doing and than I warn him that if he does not stop I am going to spank him. He knows what that means and does his best not to let it get to that point. But of course if he does not stop than I have to follow through with my warning or he will think my warnings don't mean squat. Hope that helps with your question.

If the answer is not on the subject then you can report them. There are several categories for why you are reporting them. One of them is "not an answer" another is "point gaming". Other reasons they have for some of the things you mentioned is "harassment", "insulting other participants", and "other". Then they give you a place where you can make a comment on why you are reporting them.

I think I see your point, but it's really hard to figure out what you're asking. Maybe try using real english, instead of all the "R" "U" "ppl" "4" abbreviations. If people have a hard time understanding your question, you're not going to get the answers you're looking for.

But to answer your question - I think that silly or pointless answers should be penalized. As should poorly written or pointless questions.

I agree with you. Every single question that is asked that mentions spanking in it gets at lest one or two lectures from people who call spanking "hitting". It is so annoying. Just answer the question people, and save your ignorant lectures for someone who cares!

Some poeple do give clueless answers because they get more points. I try to give good answers but sometimes I do disagreee what the people are saying.

People are jerks and sadly most of the time it's adults acting more immature than their children.
