In a subwoofer...there's a hard hitting and loose hitting...usually people get them in one subwoofer but i've seen it split up between loose hitting (which will really shake up the air) or hard hitting kickers on pimp my ride.

Does anyone have recommendations for this kind of subwoofer and what amp to go with it? (ive gotten a recommendation from a friend to get a jl audio w7 for a sub but i need more recommendations)

jl w7 13" woofer is great-you will only need one and get a jl audio 1000.1 mono amp-wire the two voice coils on 2 ohms(even though the speaker is rated for 1.5 ohms this is as close as your goin to get-no way to really wire something to 1.5 ohms)youll need 10-12ga speaker wire and run your wires from the amp onto one voice coil-then wire the 2nd voice coil from the first one-this is 2 ohms-this set up will move air and rock your

I'm a professional musician, and my son has used two different types of car-specific subs.

Generally, "hard" and "loose" hitting may actually be a function of woofer size rather than brand or type. For instance, bass guitarists and keyboard players prefer an array of 10" woofers rather than 12" or 15" woofers for definition and clarity - 12" and 15" often produce a lot of visceral impact but notes are fuzzy and ill-defined.

My son has now used both Rockford Fosgate and JL Audio subs, has gone with two 10" subs in both cases, and we prefer the JL subs over the RFs all day long. Some of that has to do with the speaker, I'm sure - but he's also changed and upgraded the tuned enclosure, which will have at least as much effect on the overall sound as the speaker itself.

So from our experience I can also recommend the JLs, recommend you go with 10", of course make sure your amp has more than adequate headroom, and be sure to use a quality, tuned, enclosure suited to your purpose and application.

Best to you.

I think you are describing different frequency responses here. A sub playing a 20-30hz tone will shake a car a lot. If you played like a kick drum it will hit hard and quick. Subs have a range in which they play so unless you specificly set up a sub to only play 20-30hz it shouldn't sound one certain way. A w7 seems to be a very popular sub because it offers good sql and is readily available. They are very pricey and if you check forums like ecoustics, sounddomain, and many others you will receive a lot of help with regards to your specific wants. Just to let you know if you consider any sub in the 1000watt and up range you will need to beef up your charging system with ho alt, new bigger wires and so on.

while musicians or DJs introduce bass right into a recording or blend, they do so because of the fact they desire to fill out the decrease end of the sound.... the sound! Subwoofers and bass audio gadget are designed to play back that sound, the vibration basically takes place to be an ingredient results of the sound because it travels from the audio gadget to our ears; they do no longer seem to be exceptionally designed to shake autos. in spite of the undeniable fact that, in view that that doesn't answer your question, perhaps this could... by using giving us the size of your audio gadget in inches means you're basically giving us a million/2 of the archives. audio gadget are rather often measured in words of their skill for means output; wattage (watts). yet another ingredient is the fabric the cone of the speaker is made out of. An aluminium cone on a 22" speaker with 500 watts of means will shake a pickup truck. you additionally could have a similar set up yet with an 8" speaker and it wont budge a push motorcycle. diverse combos will do rather some issues and it may be anyones wager how this is going to impression your vehicle. As for an enclosure, you're able to could get some thing good, metallic, geared up to in fantastic condition solidly on your autos physique to ascertain that the speaker to flow as plenty means as attainable. yet as I suggested, musicians and DJs and respectable subwoofer manufacturers intend for the bass frequencies to be listened to. in case you do unlike song, purchase a rub down chair.
