flea collars work for a while but they can actually be toxic to your cats over a long period of time. Also flea collars dont kill fleas in all the stages so for this reason it is best to get your pet on a flea control product from the Vet. in our shelter we use Revolution and it works best not only does it kill fleas in all the stages to completly elimate them but it also works for ear mites, and worms and ticks tooo.

I put Revolution on my cats. One tiny tube squeezed onto the back of their necks every 3 months is all it takes. They do not have fleas or any other parasites because of it.
When I rescued my male cat, he had a flea collar on & a load of fleas!!! That was nine years ago -- maybe they've improved. I don't bother with the flea collars, though. Revolution is GREAT!

It's really hard to put a collar on a flea.

They work pretty good but if the cat has fleas you should shampoo your rug inside with shampoo and some flea killer, and also take the cat to the vet for a de-flea.

They work if it's mainly a house pet, and you don't let your pets go into wooded areas.
If they sleep outside, you'd probably want to bathe them frequently, and keep a tighter leash on their flea and tick needs.

I don't think so. Even if you call the company, they will tell you that it only protects around the head area.
