My good friend is in the Navy and was sent to Iraq in August. I have been emailing him and not heard anything back. I am starting to worry and want to find out where he is stationed so I can write a letter to him.

Is there any website that lets regular people search for people in the service and find an address to write them at?

If your not military, you probably will not find out. This type of information is not generally given out to friends. This is due to security reason and tieing unit to certain location in Iraq. Also, on average it take a long time for mail to come back to the states and my only be delayed and he may not have internet access. My suggestion is if you are friends with anyone in the Navy that knows him, have them try and contact him and relay any infomation back to you (if they are allowed too). Alot of it has to do to what his job may be. Hang in there, its tough at times.

If they do not write you specifically and pass it along then do not push it! Their parents or spouse is enough and can choose to relay any pertinent info to you! BTW exactly what do you need to know or tell them! They are under orders to not speak or write of their immediate suroundings should the mail be intercepted! write a note and give to a family member that has the address then let go and wait! Information is being gathered by FM radio, telephone, and internet daily in your friends sector. So don't get him killed! Chill!

Since 9/11 the Global directory on Military personnel has been unable to be used if you are not military. So unless you know which unit he might have gone in then you are out of luck. I'm sorry! I do hope you find your friends. Do you know his relatives? That might help you out immensely
