Where in the bible does it state that being non-christian is a sin. Or being pagan (specifically) is a sin? I was told in my youth that pagans were devil worshippers, well, i grew up , picked up some books, read a little.. and realized i was lied to A LOT about things.. however recently again i was told the bible stated that being non-christian specifically was a sin. I know it says not to worship other gods, etc.. but to list the other religions, and stating christianity is the only right way... Where?
Again, if i knew the answer, i would not ask .. so please serious people only. thanks!!

Good question. that is the general thought of the church. Since if you aren't worshiping God their way, you much be worshiping Satan....go figure.

The only relevant text I could come up with is in the Commandments
the second one specifically
It talks about making alters to worship rather than him. God is a jealous God and he wants to be the only one worshiped. So in your religion you worship anyone/thing other than him, you're a sinner. I hope this helps.

Oh, yeah, and the first commandment. The " Have no gods before me" one.

As for being a none christian? well, that can be misquoted out of Matthew when Jesus gave his " with or against me " speach Matthew Chapter 12 v 30 and up. That reference was referring to with God, not with Jesus specifically. so no. You're not going to hell just because your not a christian. By this doctrine, anyone that seeks God's salvation is going to heaven.

-best wishes.

I was trying to find the verse that stated God's only commandment was that we put him before all others. And the sinners that we are can only make it to the Heavenly Father through the blood of the Lamb. John 3:16. I'm a believer with an open mind. And if I'm wrong then God will deal with me in his own way. He knows the truth that is in my heart and my beliefs. He is all knowing and to have good christian people tell me I'm evil because of the music I listen to or because I believe in being able to communicate with the spirit world and fortelling something in the future, I can't not understand the christian love some show. What ever I have in my life and spiritual life has came from my creator and provider. I wouldn't have dreams or any of my gifts if he hadn't given them to me. If its a sin to be a non-christian then why would God create man and give him free will? Look what the Christians have done in history...God already knows what I will do next week and what I will say and I how I will act... whether in a Christ like manner or in a lowly sinner manner and he knows me for who I truely am.

It doesn't say in the Teachings of Christ that not being christian is a sin. Christ doesn't even use the term christian.

However, it does say not to follow the ways of the heathens.

Jer. 10:[2] Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

The word christianity doesn't exist in the new testament. Christ, however, state that he is the way.

John.14:[6] Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Christ didn't reveal the whole truth by his own words.

John 16:[12] I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
[13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Some claim this to be the Holy Spirit but how does this fit into this verse in Revelation 10:[7] But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

From this we can conclude that Christ could not have been the Seventh angel as he didn't bring the whole truth (God's Mystery) this time around. Also we can conclude that he then must have been one of the other angels.

Indeed the seven angels mentioned in the Revelation are the Prophets of seven major Truths or religions (or groups of religions) that they conveyed to humanity. All religions fall under one of these seven Truths and they, therefore, come all from God.

Being a Christian simply means being a follower of Christ Jesus and all that goes along with it. If you beleive in God, also that Jesus is His Son who died for our sins & arose again on the third day, and do your absolute best to keep God's commandments, then you would be considered a Christian. Everything else is irrelevent.

JOHN 3:16-18

16 ¶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Actually, it doesn't say that being a non-Christian is a sin, it says that all are sinners, and only Christians have had their debt canceled.

"...since all have sinned and continue to fall short of God's glory." (Romans 3:23)

"But God demonstrates his love for us by the fact that Christ died for us while we were still sinners." (Romans 5:8)

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in union with Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)

"If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

"For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13)

As far as Christianity being the one way to heaven, these verses apply:

"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

"There is no salvation by anyone else, for there is no other name under heaven given among people by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

I can empathize with what you are going through. I also in my youth was told many things that were not true and it was embarrassing to find that I believed in such silly things. You have a God given right to reject what you have been told and to prove all things for yourself.

Did not Christ say "To gain life you must lose it". This can mean many things but to me to means that one "risk" damnation by others to seek the truth for yourself.

Did not Christ also say "Seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened". This should be be your Talisman for your search. Why seek but know your true self?

As for me I did find Christ again but am not a Christian. I can find truth in the Bible but do not believe it is the only source and seldom take it literally. The true religion excludes no one from the truth at any time - past or future.

God be with you.

I query the Bible. Here are a few of my questions: Why is one sin valued at endless wrath however one well paintings is not particularly valued at diddly squat? Why did God exhibit mercy to the guys who crucified Jesus however he killed a person who simply withheld a few cash? He additionally killed guys only for making a laugh of one other guy for being bald? Why must finite sins be paid for with endless wrath? The Christians say due to the fact a finite sin in opposition to an unlimited God needs endless wrath. My query is why? If a person steals one cent from a financial institution with one hundred trillion bucks in it, does he owe one hundred trillion bucks again? Why did God make guys depraved for his or her judgment? I have plenty extra questions.

The only way to the father is through the son. If you are without the father, then you are without the son. Jesus is the only way to be saved, therefore, not believing in him is a way to death. Sin leads to death(hell). This is not a direct quote from any part of the bible, it's just my way of telling you the answer you were seeking. Hope you find him.

You are right you have been lied to, however in the old testament Muslims (or Arabs) have been treated badly since Sarah Abrahams Wife chased Hagar and Ishmael (Abrahams second wife and son) out of the community when Abraham died and was unable to protect them (so much for Christian Charity) Historically Christians have used this to justify poor treatment of Muslims. Jesus apparently used the Gospels to replace the old testament as he viewed its rules were outdated. The spirit behind the new testament was acceptance and tolerance - we were instructed to love all our neighbours (in the spirit of a global community) no matter what their colour or belief system may be. Christianity tends to miss and historically has chosen to ignore the parts which do not suit. Hope this helps it is just a summary

Why are you so bitter about the Bible and Christianity?

There is One God.
Jesus taught us in John 10 and 14 about who He is. Christians have taken on His name as a belief system. "Christian" therefore becomes synonymous with "believer." And as a result, all other gods that are worshipped become idols, and/or pagan gods.

The God of Christianity is the same God of Judaism; it's only a matter of semantics about one God or three manifestations of God.
