Good reason's, because its the most fullfilling experience one can have. I have 2 kids now, and would love to have more. I'm a stay at home Mom and I'm at my most happy when with my kids. There are so many good reason's to have kids, as long as your willing to give love unconditionally always and forever! I/we decided to have our first simply because we were so happy and in love with each other the baby simply happened and it has made our lives so much better.

Bad reason's, wow that's a hard one...bad reason's, well I suppose make sure your mentally ready, its time consuming and you don't have as many "freedom's" unless you have a good reliable friend or family member that is willing to help out. Money is an issue with most people, but budgeting is something easily done. Other than that I can't see what a bad reason would be, if you think your ready go for it!!

Good luck with everything!

Michelle

Make sure you are not only emotionally ready, but also financially. If you have an apartment, and dreams of owning a home WAIT. If you have other near future financial or career goals WAIT.

Wait until you are sure your life in every way provides the stability needed. Anything you put off now will become more difficult to do once you have children. This will in turn put additional stress on the relationship. I am not saying that possessions are more important then love / family / kids, not one bit. Just wait until you are REALLY at the point where you can provide the stability for them that they require.

If your not sure if you are or not yet, talk with some parents in your community, at your house of worship, or your own parents. Get a feel for what they went through with young children / babies. What prepared them what they wish they would have done first. It may be a more appropriate question to ask here as well. The same question worded a little differently.

Not reason, but how did you know you were prepared as a couple to have a baby?

Are there any things you wish you would have done first now that you look back, etc. You may also only want to ask this of parents with teenagers, as those with babies and toddlers may not even see these things yet.

Well, if you both want this baby then you should have this baby. You should never have on if either of the parents do not want to have one. You two should sit down and discuss plans on what you are going to need to spend, and make a budget. Trust me, this is important. Also, are the both of you both stable. Meaning, are you both in college, college grad, grad student, or in a stable job that can support a family. All of this is important. You two might want to take a trip before you have a family to make sure you get last minute urges out of the way for traveling, so make it a good trip. The most important thing to do is plan and since you are asking people for some advice, that shows that you know what I'm talking about. Well, I hope that I have helped you two, and I also wish you both good luck. I'm sure you will have a wonderful child. They are lifechanging (for the better) and a blessing.

Well mine were that I had reached the age of 32, was in a permanent loving relationship with a man I loved very much (yeah we're not married yet - we can''t afford to have a proper wedding for a few years. Shoot me) and just had the natural urge to have a baby with him.

I guess bad reasons would be to prevent a relationship from failing, because "all your friends" are doing it, because you want social security benefits and so on.

Anything other than being in a loving relationship and you feel you're ready and both you and your partner want a babty and feel able to care for one properly (doesn't matter if you're married or not, or at least here in the UK its not an issue) wouldn't be a really good reason for wanting a child.

Good reasons:
You love children, you want to experience this remarkable blessing with your wife, no one else can make that same baby...EVER....she's yours to keep...You will never know that kind of love until you have your own child, it is the best feeling on this earth.....Everything she/he learns is from you, she will love you and laugh at you when no one else does...her love will never die.

BAD REASONS:

a bad reason would be that your only having a baby to make your relationship better because it might be at the breaking point...a baby will not mend the problems you and your wife have. It will only be putting her in a bad situation....

a bad reason to have a baby is to try to save a relationship. If you are making a baby out of love then that is wonderful! I didn't really plan my first baby...i was VERY youg!!!!! (13) Just don't have a baby for any other reason, but the pure joy of being a parent and watching that child blossum into a beautiful person!

A good reason is, the mother is almost 30. A bad reason, a very bad reason, is if the couple are having marital problems. The reason most people have babies is strictly an accident.

Good reason: an extra tax deduction

Bad reason: they grow into teenagers

Good reason: they become self-supporting adults.
