I think that God sends to humanity especial people, eg Jesus, Muhammad, Moses, Krishna and they come to us with a beautiful teaching to help us live a happier life but the problem is that after the founder of the religion dies and the spirit starts diying off, the followers ego gets in the way and they want to be seen, they want power etc. and start dividing themselves into more and more churches that compete with each other so it becomes a bussiness and it becomes ugly. But when you look at the teachings in the original books, it is very different from what people are preaching in churches, synagoges, mosques and temples today. The light of God is not there anymore.. .
But people feel the presence of God and that is why they attach themselves to whatever they think brings them closer to that Being and they overlook the things that don't make sense in their religion because they need to believe in something. They also need to protect it with their life and that means putting others down so they feel justified in their "truth". This is so far what I have figure out. I am sure I am pretty far from what really happens with people but it is the smartest explanation I have found up to date, perhaps tomorrow I will give you another answer....

'There is only one God', that's what all (or most) religions say. They're probably right. But each people gives him one name, and here is the question. It's not the God itself, but the culture of the people, that hiding on religion make their own presunptions on whats right and wrong. They want to conquer more land? There will be a lot of virgins waiting for those who sacrifice in war. They want more money? Give to the poors and You'll be rich in Heaven, and so their ministries will. These have forgotten God's name. In fact, I believe there his only one god no matter what you call him, and if you don't feel him in your heart and you're just a piece in the puzzle, then you are lost; but if you don't feel him in your heart and you are a leader, then we all are lost.

what does the thoughts ramblings and actions of people have to do with God? Nothing no one group no one person has the ability to understand something that trancends human thought and speech. God is bigger than that.
I started a church 3 years ago You are our God. YOU wear a tutu a clown wig and are 9 feet tall. I cant prove it. Im probably wrong about what you look like. But does it mean you dont exist. Does my church define YOU . Or do you. So I hope you get my point. Just because people are silly doesnt mean there is no God.

essentially, any organised religion has a vested interest in keeping and expanding its member population. They do this by indoctrinating their members, well you would not belong to a religion if you did not believe it was the right one would you? Anyway it seems to have worked since man has been at war over religious doctrine since bible times and even in our times of scientific and technological enlightenment we are still in the dark ages where religious doctrine is concerned and that includes Christians Muslims etc etcetc for those who are concerned about bias

Yes, you are correct. In the Bible, you will not see the name of any religion being mentioned, nor does it say that we have to belong to a religion. All religions are created by man and are a great source of evil.

Mostly it sums down to just $$$. Religious organizations are like corporate business organizations. They have competitors who might get potiental money that could go into the other's pockets, if they don't say that their the one true deal.

We do know that there are wrong religions, because Christ said many would only speak in his name, but not follow him.

There is no such thing as "one true religion". No one knows the truth cause if they did they would be dead and not be alive to tell about it.

Someone much wiser than myself once said, "I contend that we are both atheists; I simply believe in one fewer god than you. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."
