I wouldn't worry about it...all kids do it...even without being in a pool...when you see her do it, just say...nasty...and make a nasty face...she will eventually do the same thing...or just tell her no.

LOL My daughter is 14 mos old and she drinks bath tub water and pool water as well. Normal- not much you can do about it. I do make sure the tub is sanitary before I fill it- I realize her germs are still in there but at least it's not everyone else's. As far as the pool goes, it's CLEAN anyhow- the chlorine kills everything but it may upset her tummy. She should be fine, let her continue having fun in the pool. :)

You did the right thing, I believe that all children should know how to swim, and the sooner they learn, the better- I couldn't swim until I was in secondary school, and almost drowned trying for the first time, since my wonderful swimming teacher didn't believe that I couldn't swim and threw me in at the deep end!

My daughter also likes to attempt to drink the bath water, but I haven't put her in swimming pool yet, must just be a baby thing!

Good luck with your little one!

All kids drink pool water! unfortunatley! but were all ok maybe a little extra chlorine! Try teaching her to hold her breath it's easy and now my kids got used to it so they close their mouths when under water...... hold your baby in front of you Blow on her face she will instictivly take a deep beath and hold for just a second dip her face in the water while shes holding her breath she will learn to hold it longer and longer, until eventually will do it all by herself whenever her face is under water! Thats how they taught My son to swim underwater to the side at a year old!

Here in Michigan, the water in the public pool has to be clean enough to drink, that means, nothing else is added to it that would not be added to drinking water (Yes, public/city water has chlorine in it!). So don't worry. She'll be fine. Teach her to blow out, and make bubbles... it will help her when you take her to swim lessons...... you ARE going to take her to swim lessons, right?!?! the YMCA has lessons for children as young as 6 mo!

Just sharply say no. They understand no at that age. Either way it wont hurt her though. Its fine to put them in at that age, its really a good thing, as it helps to make sure they wont be afraid of the water some day.

thats fine.....my son did the same thing. try showing her how to blow bubbles and that will help her with not taking in water...instead she'll blow it. That also helps with breath control. That's what I did with my son (he's 11 months old). We just finished swim lessons a few weeks ago

You just need to tell her no and watch that she does not drink it. Tell her no and then give her a cup of water or juice. Make sure she knows that it is not good for her to drink that.

Don't worry, my daughter does the same thing. I watch her and see if she is going to do it and then I tell her no before she does it. This is completely normal and you are doing a great job mom.
