Church is good for those who are receptive to it. Unfortunately, Rep. Foley decided to do his own thing and not what was right. I can't stand people like this. Now, some people will find more reason to be confused about religion! Personally, I think you can be a Christian and not go to church, but a WHOLE lot of people go to church, but aren't Christians!!!

The good of the church is Perpective.
We all struggle with personal sins whether they be substance abuse like alcoholism and drug use or physical/mental desires, like lust or pedophilia. And we all stumble or come up short--no matter what we know to be true or believe.

The difference is, could it have been a lot worse for Foley if he wasn't a Christian? Would he have acted more on those urges? Would he be as repentant after the fact and not want to stop?

He has mental problems as all pedophiles do. Don't blame it on the church or Christians or any other group. Anyone of us in this world, believers or non-believers, could have a mental breakdown tomorrow. Then what? Do we blame the belief system of the person? Could be the person is atheist, agnostic, Christian, Muslim, Catholic, pagan, whatever. It doesn't mean that is what caused the person to become pedophile.

In a place the place there are extra Christians than different faith, is a accessible place for Christian to be loopy. in simple terms as you will desire to think of why there are Muslims who're killing fellow Muslims in Iraq. (for each 2 US electorate there , there arealways approximately better than 10 Muslims alongside). opposite the region, enable all Muslims stay right here in US and Christians in Iraq. then you definately would be asking an identical question. do not tell me there is not likely to be criminal of an identical nature between Muslims and no Christian terrorist in Iraq.

The Church was plenty good in this case. It taught Mr. Foley how to hide right out in the open, being the Head of the Caucus for Missing and Exploited Children, where he would find it easier to prey on exploited children.... Just like Priests who get transfered to another dioces when they are caught with their hands in the altar boys robes....

He was wrong. He professed to be a Christian. He deserves to be punished. His actions did not go along with his words.

Questions that come to mind...Was he a true Christian or did he just profess to be one? Who knows but him. Does what is presented by the news media give the entire picture? I do not know. I know that often times the news is not just reporting facts but trying to direct thoughts of the viewers which is beyond the intent of being a reporter...(report the facts nothing but the facts and let the people make up their own minds) like many on here keep saying...

sin is sin.....christian or not. even christians make mistakes...including big ones. One way to tell if he is a true born again christian is to follow his story and see if he is REALLY repentant or not. A true believer will not only be sorry and feel grieved for what he has done, but he will step forward with his sin and ask for forgiveness. So far all I have seen is a cover up and excuses made. only time will tell.

Well, God 'works' through you (he he). Jesus did say, "Suffer little children to come unto me(he he). Naw, he was obviously just using Christianity as a cover like a lot of them do. Bush, for example, is happy to 'blame' God for the ongoing police action in Iraq, but he let the truth slip when he proclaimed that he, G.W.Bush was, in fact, THE DECIDER.

If you have to blame the man then you have to blame the church. the church is where his morality came from. Isnt it? Thats what I hear on YA! so much. That atheists dont have any morals because they dont believe in God and they dont attend church. I have heard this so many times I tend to ignore those types of questions lately. So, the basis of Christian life is God and the base of God on Earth is the church, then you have to blame the church for the problems of the person.

He was not a Christian, he may have said he was-- but was he. He was a poser, , charlatan and evil-- people can claim to be anything but that does not make it so The bible says" by their fruit you will know them." What he did does not exemplify Christianity.
